Abstract:
Provided are an electronic circuit and electronic timepiece that can initialize internal circuits even if chattering occurs when a battery is installed. In the electronic circuit, when the initialization state hold signal is input, the initialization control circuit continues outputting the initialization control signal at the first level until the clock signal is output; and when the initialization state hold signal is input and the clock signal is output, outputs the initialization control signal at the second level cancelling the initialization process to the initialization circuit.

Abstract:
A power supply unit has a first power supply circuit that supplies a voltage to a load driving unit and a second power supply circuit that supplies a voltage to circuits other than the load driving unit. A first switching unit connects any one of a power supply that supplies a power supply voltage and a voltage step-down circuit that supplies a step-down voltage of the power supply voltage to the first power supply circuit. A second switching unit connects any one of the power supply and the voltage step-down circuit to the second power supply circuit. A control unit controls the connection by the first switching unit and the connection by the second switching unit to switch the voltage supplied to the first power supply circuit and the voltage supplied to the second power supply circuit in accordance with properties of the load driving unit.

An electronic wristwatch including an a.c. generator having an output which is rectified using a half-wave rectifier. The half-wave rectified output of the generator is stored in a capacitor serving as a secondary power supply. Booster circuitry is operable for increasing and decreasing the voltage of the secondary power supply which is then applied across an auxiliary capacitor used for powering the wristwatch. Additional circuitry provides a suitable voltage across the auxiliary capacitor for driving the watch when the voltage across the secondary power supply is at or below a predetermined level. A pair of detecting circuits detect the maximum and minimum permissible voltage levels of the secondary power supply and auxiliary capacitor.
