    摘要: An alarm clock is provided that has a housing, one or more charging ports, an audio transducer, an alarm control device, a display, and a controller. The charging ports are mounted in a surface of the housing and provide power from a power supply to an external device. The controller receives input signals from the alarm control device and sends output signals to the audio transducer and the display. When the controller receives input signals from the alarm control device, it responds by displaying and setting a desired alarm time on the display, and by arming an alarm function. While the alarm function is armed, if a current time matches the alarm time, the controller causes the audio transducer to emit an alarm sound. When the controller receives another input signal from the alarm control device, it responds by taking the alarm time off the display, disarming the alarm function, and, if the alarm sound is being emitted, quieting the alarm sound. The alarm function remains disarmed until the controller receives yet another input signal from the alarm control device, and in response rearms the alarm function.

    摘要: The alarm clock system provided with an alarm clock base unit and a remote alarm controller such that the current system does not afford a sleeping person additional rest after the initial activation of an alarm. The alarm can be deactivated only from a distance, thereby requiring the sleeper to get out of bed and use the remote to deactivate the alarm. The alarm clock system with a remote control does not allow indefinite postponement of wakefulness, thereby solving the purpose for which it is deployed. The large, highly visible display allows placement of the device at any convenient location, rather than only in close proximity to the sleeper. The alarm clock also displays the current date. The clock is capable of continued operation using power from rechargeable batteries.

    摘要: An electronic device which includes an alarm clock function includes a gravity sensor. The gravity sensor detects X acceleration values of an X-axis, Y acceleration values of a Y-axis, and Z acceleration values of a Z-axis in relation to the electronic device. The electronic device determines a first average acceleration value of X acceleration values, a second average acceleration value of Y acceleration values, and a third average acceleration value of Y acceleration values. When a current time of the electronic device matches an alarm time of an alarm clock, the electronic device detects whether a user of the electronic device is awakened by determining whether the first average acceleration value, or the second average acceleration value, or the third average acceleration value is greater than a predetermined value . If the user is not awakened, the electronic device activates the alarm clock again to awaken the user.

    摘要: A tool for reporting a particular time using vibration is disclosed. The tool assigns a distinct vibration to separate hour regions and minute regions. The tool uses a short series of vibration pulses, one of which is the distinct vibration assigned to the hour region associated with the hour of the particular time, to indicate the hour. The tool produces the distinct vibration assigned to the minute region associated with the minute of the particular time, to indicate the minute to the nearest quarter hour. The total sequence of pulses consists of no more than five separate vibrations.

    摘要: A multifunction timer device provides a time/date stamp on a dispensing container and includes a housing, a controller with a timer circuit contained in the housing, a display for displaying information from the timer circuit, and a multifunction input button. The input button is operable in predetermined sequences to select operating and display modes of the timer device. The input button can be operated to display an actual date or time, to display a current timer value, to select between count-up and count-down modes, and to increment a counter. An adhesive backing is provided for attaching the timer device to the container. A communications link is provided for interfacing the controller with an external programmer. A reset trigger is used to automatically reset the timer device when the object is moved in a particular way, such as when a lid is removed from a pill container. A docking station interconnected with a host data processing system encodes information read from a container label and writes scanned and stored data to the timer device while simultaneously mounting the timer device to the container.

In one embodiment, the commute time function is automatically activated based on an event and is then performed by (i) determining an up-to-date commute time based on commute information and (ii) displaying or speaking the up-to-date commute time on the device. In one embodiment, triggered by and before the occurrence of a calendar event, a device obtains a current commute time (based on the commute information and based on current traffic conditions1). In this embodiment, the device reschedules the calendar event based on the current commute time, by sending an update to the contacts with whom the user is to meet that indicates a change to the calendar event.
