    Abstract: An electronic watch can include a housing sidewall defining an internal volume. The electronic watch can include a printed circuit board (PCB) disposed within the internal volume. The electronic watch can include an electrically conductive connector contacting the PCB. The electronic watch can include an elongate conductive member disposed along a portion of a perimeter of the housing sidewall. The elongate conductive member can include a first contact feature electrically coupling the elongate conductive member and the electrically conductive connector at a first position along a length of the elongate conductive member. The first contact feature can include a bulge. The elongate conductive member can include a second contact feature electrically coupling the elongate conductive member and the housing sidewall at a second location along the length of the elongate conductive member.

    Abstract: An electronic watch includes a housing and a crown assembly including a rotatable actuation member. The rotatable actuation member includes a knob external to the housing and configured to receive a rotational input and a shaft assembly coupled to the knob and positioned at least partially within the housing, the shaft assembly defining a sensing surface configured to rotate in response to the rotational input. The electronic watch further includes an optical sensing system configured to detect the rotational input, the detecting including directing light onto the sensing surface, receiving reflected light from the sensing surface, and producing a signal corresponding to a rotational motion of the sensing surface, the signal based at least in part on an interference between the light directed onto the sensing surface and the reflected light.

    Abstract: A wearable device has a housing containing electronics and a band that retains the wearable device on a user's arm. Each end of the housing has an open receptacle. The band has protrusions made from an elastomeric material and includes a rigid member arranged at least partially within. The protrusions are inserted into the receptacle to attach the band to the housing. A lower portion of the housing comprises two pieces that, when assembled, provide optical baffles between adjacent optical devices such as a heart rate monitor, and windows for the optical devices to operate. A thermal conductor is retained between the two pieces and facilitates operation of a temperature sensor in the device. An antenna carrier facilitates installation of an antenna without impairing fixation of an upper portion of the housing. A compact charger clips to the housing to supply power to recharge a battery in the wearable device.

    Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a smartwatch including a housing that at least partially defines an internal volume, and a touch-sensitive display positioned at least partially within the internal volume. A front cover can be positioned over the touch-sensitive display and can define a front exterior surface. A seal can be positioned between the housing and the front cover and configured to transition between an uncompressed state and a compressed state in response to an increase from a first external pressure on the front cover to a second external pressure. In the uncompressed state, the seal has a first density and is air-permeable allowing an internal pressure of the internal volume to equalize with external air at the first pressure. In the compressed state, the seal has a second density, greater than the first density, and is configured to inhibit ingress of water at the second pressure.
