The guide extends in a longitudinal direction of an image bearer and is disposed upstream from a transfer position, at which an image is transferred from the image bearer to the recording medium, in a direction of conveyance of a recording medium to guide the recording medium. The positioner positions an end of the guide relative to the image bearer. The pusher contacts the guide at a position closer to a center of the guide than the end of the guide in the longitudinal direction, to push the guide toward the image bearer.

    摘要: A method of removing charge from a charged sheet prior to stacking the charged sheet is disclosed. The method includes moving the charged sheet through a set of nipped rollers while a first roller has an AC voltage applied thereto so that a first side of the charged sheet is in contact with the first roller and has its charge substantially dissipated, whereby charge substantially remains on a second side of the charged sheet in contact with a second roller. The method further includes using at least one non-contact charge removal device to remove charge from the second side of the charged sheet, and stacking the discharged sheet.

    摘要: A static control device suitable for printers, copiers and the like is disclosed with a manufacturing method therefor. A carrier strip of non-metallic, electrically conductive material, such as plastic, is provided with a plurality of spaced bundles of electrically conductive filaments. The bundles extend beyond the carrier strip, in close proximity to media transported along a media path. In the presence of electrical fields, the filaments induce ionization, and establish a conductive path for charges on the media to the carrier strip for grounding. A strand is attached across the bundles, for improving the structural integrity of the device.

    摘要: A low inertia rotary drum transport for flexible sheets, the drum rotating at a relatively low speed for loading a sheet, rapidly accelerating to a relatively high speed for processing the sheet, then rapidly decelerating to the relatively low speed for unloading the sheet. A gate and conveyor are controlled to supply the sheet to the drum in precise registration. Vacuum apparatus and a charge corona are provided for attaching the sheet to the drum, the vacuum attaching the leading portion of the sheet, the corona charging the middle portion of the sheet to hold the sheet to the drum by electrostatic attraction, and the vacuum attaching the trailing portion of the sheet. Air pressure apparatus detaches the leading portion of the sheet for unloading.
