When a parking space is detected, a trajectory is determined, along which the motor vehicle is able to park in the parking space. During the parking, the surroundings of the motor vehicle are monitored.Upon detection of a specified situation, the parking space readout is stopped for a specified distance, the parking process is aborted or a warning is issued to the driver.
