摘要:
Combining a plurality of local flow measurements made at more than one location to generate a composite flow value can improve the accuracy of the overall measurement. The reliability and long term accuracy of a multi-sensor flow measurement are improved by a two-step process. During an initial learning period, when all of the local sensors are providing accurate local measurements, a calibration table is built up that associates each calculated composite flow value with the set of local flow signal values from which it was calculated. In a subsequent operational period each time the composite flow rate is to be determined the flow meter apparatus first checks to see if all the local sensors are working properly and, if one of them is not working properly, its output is replaced with the corresponding value from the calibration table.

An electronic flow measurement device (EFM), for use in conjunction with a flow meter in a pressurized gas line, has a microprocessor and read-only memory (ROM), and calculates and records gas flow rates corrected for variable factors such as gas pressure, temperature, and density. Look-up tables stored in the ROM contain intermediate values calculated in accordance with selected protocols for selected ranges of input variables such as gas temperature, pressure, density, and turbine “K” factors. Based on inputs received from gas temperature and pressure sensors, the EFM selects corresponding intermediate values from the look-up tables, and then uses these values to calculate corrected gas flow rates, using software residing in the EFM. The microprocessor's power consumption is significantly reduced because the use of look-up tables reduces the complexity and extent of calculations that the EFM needs to perform, as compared with performing all required calculations in the EFM.

The present invention provides a flow meter whereby movement of fluid causes screw spindles or other movable elements to rotate and generate electronic pulses. The invention compensates for non-linearity in the relationship between the flow rate and the number of pulses, occurring particularly at low flow rates, by providing a device in the form of a transducer which assigns volume a value to each pules, which volume values are accumulated such that when certain predetermined value is exceeded a transducer generates a counter signal. Thus, the present invention enables compensation for non-linearity to be made and pulses output corresponding to a standard unit of volume.

A turbine gas flow meter (10) includes a meter body (12) including an inlet portion (24) having an inlet body (32) mounted therein, with an exit end (30) of the body inlet portion being defined at an internal plenum (22) of the meter body, and a removable turbine meter measuring module (44) including a rotor assembly (48) which is inserted into the plenum with an inlet end (127) of the rotor assembly and the exit end of the inlet portion defining an interface therebetween. A closed space (114) is formed about the rotor assembly within the plenum between an inner wall (106) of the body and outer walls (116, 118) of the rotor assembly. An axial gap (128) between a surface (130) of the rotor assembly inlet end and a surface (132) of the body inlet portion exit end, and/or radial notches in either of the surfaces (130, 132), provide fluid pressure communication from the interface to the closed space. A pressure tap (138) extends through the body into the closed space for measuring pressure within the closed space.

In conventional water meters, there is not a proportion between the flow velocity of water flowing through the meter and the movement of the part that measures, i.e., the rotation of the turbine. That lack of proportionality may be a cause of error. This problem is solved by an electronic automatic correction system, which compares the measurement data with a data base stored in its memory, effects the necessary corrections and supplies the exact reading of the actual volume of water used. The meter is able to detect low water flow and water leakage.

A method and apparatus for identifying, quantifying and correcting turbine meter errors related to pulsation effects in a gas stream being measured. A turbine meter pulse rate output signal is monitored and abnormal pulse rate modulations in the signal are detected and used to indicate turbine meter measurement errors. The equation used to determine turbine error requires measurements of pulsation intensity over a desired frequency range. Because of the difficulty in measuring pulsation intensity at field sites, meter error is determined directly from rotor speed modulation data. Rotor speed modulation data is obtained and then quantitatively related to pulsation intensity using a rotor response model. Thus, meter error is determined directly from rotor speed modulation data, allowing on-site quantification and correction of errors.

A flow rate measurement system and method suitable for monitoring filtrate flow in a hemodialysis apparatus, provides a pair of flow meters in series at the input of a dialyzer for producing electrical signals indicative of dialysate flow rate and a pair of flow meters in series at the output of the dialyzer for producing electrical signals indicative of dialysate plus filtrate flow rate. A computer receives the flow rate signals and is programmed to calibrate each flow meter during a calibration phase to correct for any variations in each pair to thereby produce corrective scale factors. During an operational phase of the apparatus, the program monitors the flow meters and provides an alarm if any changes between the readings of either of the pairs of flow meters occurs.

There is disclosed a gas flow measuring and calculating system including a transducer for measuring line or flow pressure of the gas flowing through a conduit, a transducer for measuring the line or flow temperature of the aforementioned gas, a turbometer for measuring the gas flow through the conduit, and calculation means in the form of a microprocessor for repetitively calculating with high accuracy the base gas flow in terms of standard cubic feet, wherein the supercompressibility factor is computed based upon values of measured gas temperature and pressure for specific entered values of specific gravity and of the gas compaction, and there are a plurality of computing steps for each calculation of the base gas flow. During each computing step, an initially approximated value of this supercompressibility factor or the previously-calculated value is used to calculate and display continuously an indication of the base gas flow, it being understood that each computer step is insufficient to recalculate the supercompressibility factor, this calculation taking a plurality of steps.
