Abstract:
A monolithic barrel for a weapon has an integral suppressor. The barrel and integral suppressor can be machined from a single piece of material, which can eliminate the need to attach separate components to the barrel. The monolithic barrel has a barrel bore for firing a projectile that produces discharge gas. To suppress the discharge, the barrel defines one or more baffles separating expansion chambers toward a distal end of the barrel. The barrel further defines one or more channels along the length of the barrel that provide extend flow paths for the discharge gas from the barrel's bore. Greater reductions in sound can be achieved relative to the overall barrel length due to the integral suppressor.
Abstract:
An assembly for directing propellant gas to an action of a firearm includes a barrel and a gas block. The barrel has a plurality of gas ports that communicate with the bore of the barrel. The barrel and the gas block define a passage that receives pressurized propellant gas from the bore by way of the barrel gas ports, and directs the propellant gas to a gas port of the gas block. The plurality of barrel gas ports and the passage act as a manifold in which the propellant gas is taken from multiple locations within the barrel, combined into a single flow, and directed into the gas block via the gas block gas port. The pressurized gas is then routed to an action of the firearm by way of a gas tube and a gas key.
Abstract:
A shockwave impulse disruptor system for use in an underwater firearm. The system includes a barrel having a bore, a muzzle, and at least one barrel port. A housing is external to the bore and defines at least a first gas expansion chamber. The expansion chamber is in fluid communication with the barrel port and has at least one exhaust port. The barrel bore and expansion chamber are flooded when underwater. Propellant gases that push a projectile through the bore are vented through the barrel port to force water from the expansion chamber through the exhaust port and to vent propellant gases. This delays the release of gases to surrounding water and reduces the amount of gas expelled through the muzzle.
Abstract:
A modular silencer includes an outer tube and a plurality of chamber separators suspended through a tensile force within a bore of the outer tube and defining chambers between each pair of chamber separators in the silencer. An outer edge of the chamber separators is spaced apart from an inner surface of the tube to allow gas equalization between the chambers. A plurality of tube portions separate the chamber separators from each other and from the proximal and distal ends of the silencer assembly. The tube portions define a continuous center tube suspended in tension within the outer tube and through which the projectile travels. The tube portions have can have angled openings through which gas discharge exits into the chambers. Rotatable sleeves can be disposed over the tube portions to further disrupt gas flow and dissipate heat and sound. A carbon fiber sleeve can be disposed over the outer tube to inhibit burn injuries from contacting the silencer.

The present disclosure presents a barrel assembly for a firearm. The barrel assembly includes a barrel having an internal bore and an external surface, and a recoil spring lug affixed to an outside surface of the barrel. The barrel assembly also includes a slide moveably mounted relative to the barrel, and a recoil spring biased on the recoil spring lug and the slide.

A firearm noise suppressor and flash hider device having a tubular housing having left hand threaded components. A suppressor mount securing and aligning the tubular housing relative to a firearm barrel. A number of propellant gas handling members within the housing define aligned projectile ports and baffle chambers to permit projectile movement and slow the progress of propellant gas as it traverses the internal chamber. These gas handling members define primary and secondary flow paths within the housing to divide the propellant gas discharge from the barrel and minimize gas pressure and volume of flow, resulting in lower propellant pressure, minimized noise and propellant flash. The primary and secondary flow paths each have separate discharge openings at the forward end of the suppressor.

A projectile launcher includes a barrel, a high pressure chamber included within the barrel, and a low pressure area included within the barrel and substantially surrounding the high pressure chamber. The high pressure chamber includes an inner cavity and multiple vent holes connecting the inner cavity to the low pressure area so that high pressure gases generated in the inner cavity by a pressure cartridge can pass from the inner cavity to the low pressure area and propel a round (or projectile) out of the launcher.

A silencer for a firearm in one embodiment includes an outer tube defining a proximal end configured for mounting on a firearm barrel, a distal end, and an internal passageway extending between the ends. A plurality of first baffles is disposed in horizontally stacked relation in the internal passageway between the proximal and distal ends of the tube. The first baffles each comprises an annular mounting sleeve and a cone projecting axially rearward from the sleeve towards the proximal end of the tube. The cone defines an oblong obliquely angled central opening concentrically aligned the bore of a firearm barrel for receiving a projectile therethrough. Gas expansion chambers are formed between the first baffles. The cone may have an asymmetrically skewed shape for cross-jetting. An anti-rotation feature is provided which prevents the silencer assembly from loosening when the silencer is coupled to the firearm barrel.

A barrel and a barrel extension for being coupled to a firearm. The barrel extension can be threadedly engaged with a proximal end of the barrel. A chamber of the firearm can extend in at least the proximal end of the barrel. One or more channels can be formed in the exterior surface of the proximal end of the barrel and/or the interior surface of the barrel extension for providing fluid communication from the chamber to the forward end of the barrel extension between the barrel extension and the proximal end of the barrel for venting high pressure gases that may develop in the chamber.
