摘要: An improved desolventizer-toaster (DT) unit is used for removing traces of a hydrocarbon solvent from a mass of vegetable particles of oil. A conventional DT unit has within a housing, a set of solvent removal trays and a main ejector transporting solvent vapor and steam from below the tray set to between a pair of the trays in the set. The improved DT unit has a further scavenger tray between an inlet of the main ejector and the housing floor. A scavenger ejector transports solvent vapor from between the scavenger tray and the housing floor before it exits from the unit, to the space between the tray set and the scavenger tray.

摘要: A method and apparatus for the continuous sublimation of a substance includes cascading a material containing a substance capable of sublimation, such as water, between a plurality of trays vertically stacked within a processing zone provided within a processing chamber. A substantially atmospheric environment is maintained within the processing zone at a temperature whereby the substance sublimes forming a sublimate within the environment. The environment containing the sublimate is contacted with a drying agent such as a desiccant to maintain the environment whereby the substance sublimes at substantially atmospheric pressure and at the controlled temperature.

摘要: The air B supplied from the air-sending device 23, constructing the recycling device 1 of the material to be processed, is kept in contact with the coolant A absorbed into or attached to the belt 4 for being dipped into liquid, wherein the air B inspired by the discharging device 49 is kept in contact with the coolant A dripping down or passing the plate 42 on which liquid flows down so that water from the coolant A will be evaporated when drying natural, thus increasing the density of ethylene glycol. The coolant A condensed to a given density is dripped down from the belt 4 for being dipped into liquid and the plate 42 on which liquid flows down so that, upon being reserved in the liquid recovering container 3 or the liquid reserving container 43, the coolant A, which is already recycled, is recovered from the container 3, 43.

摘要: An apparatus for separating a solvent from solid or granular particles. The apparatus includes a fully enclosed vessel having multiple stages for effecting the solvent removal therein. Each stage includes an upper deck and a lower deck extending across the width of the vessel generally parallel to one another over a substantial portion of the length of the vessel. A first gear and a second gear are operatively located beyond the ends of the upper and lower decks. A means for conveying solid particles forms a continuous loop extending from the first gear over the lower deck, around the second gear and over the upper deck and back to the first gear. Drive means are provided for rotating the means for conveying solids. The lower deck is heated to a sufficient temperature to cause vaporization of at least a portion of the solvent contaminating the solid particles as the particles are conveyed over the heated deck. The means for conveying solids moves the solids through the apparatus so that the solids first to enter are the first to exit the apparatus to minimize residence time, reduce grinding or breaking of the solids, and minimize the likelihood that solid particles will be burned or stick to the apparatus.

摘要: A flowable solid material, such as wet-milled corn germ, is continuously fed into the upper portion of a large vessel having a cylindrical shell with a vertical axis and a series of vertically spaced horizontal decks. Each deck has concentrically spaced annular zones of holes or perforations, and heated air from a set of blowers and a gas-fired or steam heat exchanger is forced countercurrently or upwardly through the perforations to produce a recirculating bed of material above each deck with an upward spouting flow of the material above the zones of perforations and a downward flow of material between the zones of perforations. The recirculating material forming the lower beds is also heated by cylindrical steam heat exchangers which extend vertically between the zones of perforations, and the material is fed downwardly through the vessel in a serpentine-like path to form the beds and for discharge from the lowermost bed. Sweep arms rotate above the decks and below the heat exchangers, and after the heated air flowing upwardly through the decks and beds absorbs moisture from the material, the air is exhausted to a dual cyclone separator. The separator collects solid particles within the exhaust air, and the clean exhaust air is directed from the separator back to the blowers to form a closed cycle operation.

摘要: Dewatered municipal sludge is dried and simultaneously pelletized in an indirect dryer. A sweep air is introduced into the dryer to extract a water vapor and air mixture. The water vapor and air mixture is condensed and cleaned in a condensor and a scrubber to obtain a clean non-condensable gas. The non-condensable gas is heated and recycled to the dryer after heating for use as the sweep air. Since air leakage into the system is inevitable, an excess amount of air accumulates that does not need to be recycled to the dryer. The excess amount of air is diverted from the recycled sweep air and thermally treated to destroy any malodorous gaseous constituents contained therein. Preferably, the indirect dryer is a horizontal drum dryer that is heated by the hot flue gases from a combustion furnace. The condenser for condensing the water vapor and sweep air mixture extracted from the dryer is cooled by the liquid sludge entering the dewatering treatment phase of the process, and the waste flue gas from the furnace is used to heat the recycled sweep air in order to save energy by recovering waste heat of the system.

摘要: A process is provided for drying products in divided form, particularly cereals, and an apparatus for implementing this process. This process is based on the principle of placing the material to be dried (cereal grains, food grains . . . ) in suspension in a gaseous stream forming the hot drying fluid. In accordance with the invention, alternate steps are provided for drying and sweating the material during treatment, the sweating involving absence of drying fluid flow about the grains. An apparatus for implementing this process includes a casing with vertical axis in which is mounted at least one perforated horizontal plate supporting the fluidized bed, a blade being movable perpendicularly to the plate, two side hoppers with mobile bottoms being associated with each plate, a blade being mounted in each hopper.

摘要: In the desolventizing of solvent-containing residues which are obtained in the extraction from vegetable, oil and fat-bearing raw materials with organic solvents and from which the so-called miscella containing oil and/or fat has been separated, the desolventization proper by direct action of a desolventizing agent, particularly steam, is relieved by interposing before the desolventization proper a pre-desolventization with indirect heat transfer, particularly indirect steam heating, and thereby the energy input of the entire system is reduced considerably. Moreover, the drying and cooling of the now solvent-free residue, which follows the desolventizing, can take place in a single, combined stage, whereby further relief of the volume of apparatus as well as the energy input is achieved.
