摘要： An automated cryogenic storage system includes a freezer and an automation system to provide automated transfer of samples to and from the freezer. The freezer includes a bearing and a drive shaft though the freezer, the drive shaft being coupled to a rack carrier inside the freezer and adapted to be coupled to a motor. The automation module includes a rack puller that is automatically positioned above an access port of the freezer. The rack puller engages with a sample rack within the freezer, and elevates the rack into an insulating sleeve external to the freezer. From the insulating sleeve, samples can be added to and removed from the sample rack before it is returned to the freezer.

摘要： A method and apparatus for freezing a liquid droplet includes dispensing, by a liquid dispenser, a droplet of liquid into a fluid chamber containing a freezing liquid. The droplet of liquid is allowed to dwell in the freezing liquid for at least a predetermined dwell time so that the droplet of liquid freezes to a frozen droplet. The method and apparatus further includes injecting, by a gas injector, a stream of gas transversely to a surface of the freezing liquid at about where the frozen droplet is located along the surface of the freezing liquid contained in the fluid chamber so that the frozen droplet sinks in the freezing liquid.

摘要： An impinger for cooling or freezing products includes an impingement plate containing openings for directing impingement jets of a mixture of gas and solid or liquid cryogen toward the products transported on a conveyor, wherein the openings in aggregate have an open area of about 7% to about 12% of the total surface area of the impingement plate, the impingement plate providing a back pressure restriction of about 220 to about 475 Pa. A process for cooling or freezing products within a housing chamber includes transporting the products, particularly IQF food products, on a moving substrate within the chamber, mixing a gas with solid or liquid cryogen to form a mixture, directing the mixture to the aforementioned impinger; and selectively directing the pressurized impingement jets of the mixture from the impingement plate toward the products transported on the substrate.

摘要： An apparatus for providing a liquid-gas entrained cryogen mixture onto a food product includes a first pipe through which is provided a flow of liquid cryogen; a second pipe through which is provided a flow of gaseous cryogen, the second pipe in fluid communication with the first pipe at a mixing region; and a pulsing valve disposed at an interior of the second pipe upstream of the mixing region, the pulsing valve adapted for releasing the gaseous cryogen into the liquid cryogen at select intervals of time to provide a pulsating flow of the liquid-gas entrained cryogen mixture downstream of the mixing region for contacting the food product. A related method is also provided.
