    Abstract: A refrigerator includes a flow path exit of a fluid introduction part and a flow path entrance of the frost detection duct that have a same size. Thus, defrost water flowing down into the fluid introduction part through a guide flow path may more efficiently flow downward without becoming stagnant and freezing of the stagnant water may be prevented.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a refrigerator. The refrigerator according to one embodiment of the present disclosure comprises: an evaporator; a defrosting heater; a temperature sensor; and a controller to control the defrosting heater. The controller is configured to: in response to a defrosting operation starting time arriving, perform a defrosting operation mode including a pre-defrosting cooling mode, a heater operation mode and a post-defrosting cooling mode; perform a continuous operation mode, in which the defrosting heater is continuously on; and when a temperature change rate sequentially increases, decreases and increases again, perform a pulse operation mode, in which the defrosting heater is repeatedly turned on and off. Accordingly, defrosting efficiency may be improved, and power consumption may be reduced.

    Abstract: An air-conditioning apparatus includes an outdoor unit and an indoor unit between which refrigerant is circulated. The indoor unit includes a body casing that forms an outer shell, a heat exchanger provided in the body casing, a drain pan provided below the heat exchanger, a water-level detecting unit that detects the level of condensate water that has flowed into the drain pan, and a refrigerant-gas detecting unit that is provided in the drain pan and at a higher level than the water-level detecting unit, and detects refrigerant gas that has leaked from the heat exchanger. The air-conditioning apparatus includes a controller that performs control to stop a cooling operation when the water-level detecting unit detects the condensate water that collects in the drain pan.

    Abstract: A capacitance sensing system for sensing frost and ice accumulation. The capacitance sensing system comprises a first capacitor formed by a portion of a metal heat exchanger and a sensor electrode electrically isolated from the metal heat exchanger, a tank oscillator comprising a second capacitor and an inductor connected in parallel with each other and coupled in parallel with the first capacitor, and a circuit coupled to the tank oscillator. The circuit coupled to the tank oscillator is configured to determine a resonant frequency of the tank oscillator, determine a capacitance value based on the resonant frequency of the tank oscillator, determine that the capacitance value is greater than a predefined threshold, and transmit a heater activation command in response to determining the capacitance value is greater than the predefined threshold.

    Abstract: A control method of a refrigerator includes the steps in which: a heating element of a sensor which is responsive to a change in the flow rate of air is turned off after being turned on for a predetermined period of time; a first sensing temperature (Ht1) of the heating element is sensed in a state in which the heating element is on, and a second sensing temperature (Ht2) of the heating element is sensed in a state in which the heating element is off; and a defrosting operation of removing frost on an evaporator is determined on the basis of the temperature difference value between the first sensing temperature (Ht1) and the second sensing detection temperature (Ht2).
