摘要: An erosion resistant waterwall in which a plurality of erosion resistant stud members are attached to the exposed surface of a waterwall consisting of a plurality of spaced water tubes connected together by continuous fins. The size of the stud members relative to the tubes are such that a plurality of the stud members extend around the periphery of each exposed tubes surface in a spaced relationship in a direction perpendicular to the axis of each tube. The stud members may be in the form of steel balls or small rod members attached to the exposed surface, and a ceramic sleeve can extend around the rod members.

摘要: A water tube boiler comprises a furnace having a burner and a vertical flue gas stack located to one side of the furnace. A convection tube assembly is arranged in the stack for the recovery of heat from flue gases passing through the flue gas stack. With the object of facilitating any repair work needing to be performed on the convection tube assembly, the tube assembly comprises by a plurality of parallel rows of vertical convection tubes which are provided externally with surface enlarging elements e.g. in the form of pins, along part of the height of each tube. The tubes in each row are joined together to form a coherent flat unit with the aid of a respective upper, horizontal header to which all convection tubes in the row are connected at their upper ends, and a respective lower horizontal manifold to which the bottom ends of the tubes in the row are connected. The headers of the various units are connected individually to a steam drum of the boiler and their manifolds are connected individually to a stuff box in the boiler. The heights of the headers and manifolds for adjacent flat tube units across the stack respectively alternate in height vertically.

摘要: Disclosed is a stud for a boiler or other high temperature application, such as a furnace. The stud is made of an iron aluminum alloy which comprises about 81 to 91 wt. % iron, about 8 to 13 wt. % aluminum, about 0.01 to 0.3 wt. % carbon, and zero to about 3 wt. % of a refractory metal and/or zero to about 1.5 wt. % zirconium. The studs are welded to a surface of a component of the boiler or furnace by arc or resistance welding. The aluminum of the iron aluminum alloy imparts good oxidation and sulfidation resistance to the studs. The alloy also has a good electrical resistance which makes the alloy especially useful for arc or resistance welding. The aluminum content acts as a getter to eliminate gas porosity in the resulting welds. The present invention is particularly useful for making boiler heat exchange surfaces or refractory covered surfaces wherein the studs function as refractory anchors.

摘要: The present invention utilizes extended surfaces, such as studs and fins, on a low-flux surface area of radiant heat transfer tubes in a fired furnace to more uniformly distribute heat flux. The invention increases the overall heat transfer of the tube by increasing heat flux rate for the backside of the tube, for example, and thus decreases the temperature differential between the opposing tube sides.
