    Abstract: To provide a liquid crystal element having multiple alignment domains with a simple configuration. The liquid crystal element includes: a first and a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer inbetween the two substrates; and a seal material with an injection port; where a first and a second alignment film each has an alignment regulating force in one direction on a surface in contact with the liquid crystal layer, a polymerized monomer is present at the interface between each of the two alignment films and the liquid crystal layer; the liquid crystal layer has a first region close to the injection port and a second region far from the injection port; and the first region has a high polymer density and has a pretilt angle in a direction opposite to the alignment regulating force, and the second region has a pretilt angle in the same direction as the alignment regulating force.

The one or more light sources may project images on the ground or on other surfaces. The light source may be carried by a pedestrian or on personal transport used by a pedestrian. The light sources may be stationary and provide lighting for a pedestrian street crossing.

    Abstract: An optical device for a motor vehicle headlight for producing continuously closed light distribution. The optical device includes: light sources; collimators which are respectively associated with a light source; and a light guiding body, which has a light shaping structure and is formed from a plurality of interconnected facets. The facets respectively have an inclination to the main emission direction, wherein the spatial vector of a facet forms a horizontal and a vertical angle of inclination to the main emission direction. The inclinations of all facets are distributed such that the horizontal angles of inclination are respectively distributed around an expected value that corresponds to the maximum luminous intensity of the light distribution such that light that enters or leaves the light guiding body via facets that have horizontal and vertical angles of inclination corresponding to the expected value forms the maximum luminous intensity of the light distribution. The light shaping structure forms the light entry side and/or the light exit side of the light guiding body, wherein the facets are distributed substantially homogeneously on the light entry and/or exit sides in relation to their respective inclinations.

    Abstract: A primary optics for a motorcycle headlamp, wherein the primary optics is a non-imaging primary optics configured to irradiate a segmented light distribution in front of the primary optics, wherein the primary optics includes a plurality of light guiding elements for forming a predetermined segmented light distribution from light of light sources in a main direction. Each light guiding element has a light input surface and a common light output surface, wherein the light guiding elements are arranged in groups, wherein each group includes at least two light guiding elements arranged in juxtaposition along a straight arrangement line orthogonal to the main direction.     Abstract: The invention relates to a lighting apparatus for a motor vehicle, which includes one or more light sources and an optical device that is configured such that a first light distribution is produced in an intermediate image plane from light beams originating from the one or more light sources, and in that a second light distribution in the form of a target light distribution is generated in front of the illumination apparatus from the first light distribution. The optical device also includes one or more spatial phase modulators on which at least one light beam from the light sources is incident and which are electrically drivable, to variably set a phase modulation of the at least one light beam which is incident thereon. During operation of the illumination apparatus, the spatial phase modulators are driven such that only a phase modulation of the at least one light beam is performed and substantially the entire luminous flux at the respective phase modulator is contained in the first light distribution after the at least one light beam that is incident on the phase modulator has passed it.
