    Abstract: Method for controlling a lighting system with the lighting system including a plurality of light sources, wherein each light source is capable of emitting an elementary light beam with the vertical angular aperture of which is less than 1°. The method includes detecting a target object, determining a relative distance between a given point of the host vehicle sensor system and a detected point of the target object and determining a gradient of the road on which the target object is located, determining a lower angle and an upper angle between a given point of the host vehicle lighting system and a high cut-off point and a low cut-off point, controlling the light sources of the host vehicle lighting system in order to emit a pixelated light beam of the driving beam type in order to generate a dark zone extending substantially between the high and low cut-off points.

    Abstract: An optical system for use in a headlamp of a motor vehicle includes condenser optics formed by a condenser lens matrix and being provided to focus incoming light beams. It further includes at least one reflective shield being provided to reflect at least a subset of the focused light beams and to create a cut-off line of outgoing light beams. It further includes imaging optics formed by an imaging lens matrix, which is provided to project the focused light beams and the reflected light beams in front of the headlamp, such that the reflected light beams contribute to an intensity hotspot on one side of the cut-off line.

    Abstract: A lighting module includes a first light source that generates a low beam with a bright/dark cut-off line and a second light source. First optics redirects a first part of light from the first light source to create a main part of the low beam substantially below the bright/dark cut-off line. Second optics is spaced apart from the first optics and redirects a second part of light from the first light source to create a zone III beam of the low beam substantially above the bright/dark cut-off line and redirects a fourth part of light from the second light source to create a concentrated beam of the high beam in front of the vehicle. Third optics redirects a third part of light from the second light source to create a main part of a high beam.

    Abstract: A vehicle lamp is configured in such a manner as to project light from light-emitting elements (22 and 42) of a first and a second lamp unit (20 and 40) forward through lenses (30 and 50) in the lamp and accordingly form a low-beam light distribution pattern having a Z-shaped cut-off line. In addition, a part of a plurality of lens elements formed on a front surface (30a, 50a) of each of the lenses (30 and 50) is formed as a specific lens element (30aA3, 50sB3) having a freeform surface shape. It is configured in such a manner as to form an inclined portion of the Z-shaped cut-off line with light emitted from the specific lens elements (30sA3 and 50sB3). Consequently, the degree of flexibility in forming the Z-shaped cut-off line is increased.

    Abstract: Vehicle headlights are equipped with a right-side lamp, a left-side lamp, and a control unit. A right-side light distribution pattern and a left-side light distribution pattern include an overlapping area and a non-overlapping area. In a case where the steering angle is greater than the prescribed angle, the control unit controls power supplied to light-emitting parts of the right-side lamp and power supplied to light-emitting parts of the left-side lamp such that: a first area of a first light distribution pattern is located in the non-overlapping area; a second area of a second light distribution pattern is located in the overlapping area; and a first intensity of the light in the first area becomes greater than the sum of a second intensity of the light in the second area and a third intensity of the light in the area overlapping the second area within the first light distribution pattern.
