Abstract:
A marine pipelaying system and method for lowering and/or raising an offshore pipeline and including one or more accessories thereto, includes a pipeline launch device, a pipeline clamp, an accessory connecting device and a controlled load hoisting device. An accessory handling device is provided including an accessory transport track and a cart adapted to engage and support one of the one or more accessories, such that the accessory handling device is adapted to engage said accessory at the engagement position, position the accessory in the pipeline connecting position in the firing line above the pipeline clamp. The accessory can be connected to the pipeline and support and allow displacement of the accessory between the engagement position and the pipeline connection position.
Abstract:
A system and method for laying an underwater pipeline is provided. The present invention includes a plurality of pipe support rings connected together by tension cables. The tension cables are secured to a S or J laying ship by a winch. The plurality of pipe support rings form a pipe channel sized to guide the underwater pipeline. The present invention further includes a sea water pipe having a distal portion and a proximal end. The proximal end is fluidly connected with a pump on board the ship. The distal end includes a plurality of nozzles. The sea water pipe is disposed underneath the plurality of pipe support rings. The underwater pipeline is fed through the plurality of pipe support rings while the nozzles form a trench on a sea bed.
Abstract:
A method for installing an accessory onto a pipeline to be laid on the seabed, includes launching the pipeline from a first position of a tower in which the tower is at an angle α with respect to the vertical; stopping the launch of the pipeline, and hanging off the launched pipeline in a hang off module; positioning an accessory in a tower firing line; attaching the accessory to the launched pipeline in the hang off module and to at least one A&R cable; suspending the accessory and the launched pipeline from an A&R system; disengaging the hang off module from the launched pipeline; pivoting the pipeline launch tower to an accessory launch position in which the tower is at an angle γ that differs substantially from angle α, such that a pipeline launch trajectory is created which is large enough to launch the accessory and the launched pipeline with the A&R system.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the implementation of a fluid transportation pipe. In order to achieve this, the pipe is equipped with a ballasting system, and, along a laying axis, the pipe, thus equipped, is immersed in a fluid having movement, such as the sea. A ballast mass of the ballasting system then substantially causes at least this ballasting system to sink.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a vessel comprising a flexible hydrocarbon pipeline storage installation. The flexible hydrocarbon pipeline storage installation comprises an annular storage device, the storage device comprising an opening, and a tensioner, adapted to exert a pulling force on a pipeline, comprising two or moretensioner tracks defining therebetween a pipeline passage, extending between a loading end and an opposed storage end of the tensioner. The flexible hydrocarbon pipeline storage installation further comprises a pipeline loading guide, provided near the tensioner, for guiding the pipeline during loading the pipeline into the annular storage device. According to the invention, the tensioner is arranged to have an essentially vertical pipeline passage, wherein the storage end of the tensioner is situated above the opening of the annular storage device, and wherein the pipeline loading guide is provided near the loading end of the tensioner.

Abstract:
A method of abandoning a pipeline during subsea pipelaying from a pipelay vessel includes suspending the pipe string from a tendon element of an abandonment string and engaging further tendon elements to an upper end of the abandonment string while lowering the pipe string to a handover depth. At the handover depth, tension is applied via a wire to the top of the pipe string at an acute angle to the launch axis. This deflects the pipe string from the launch axis into axial alignment with the wire to transfer the weight load of the pipe string to the wire, whereupon the abandonment string can be decoupled from the pipe string. Recovery of the pipeline from the seabed can be effected by a reverse process.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an assembly that includes a pipe for transporting liquid, deformable between an internal circular cross-section and a flattened internal cross-section that can be null and that can be folded on itself longitudinally, and a device for installing the pipe. The device includes a rotating turret about which the pipe is wound and flattened, presentation means for presenting one opposite the other in a commonly conformed state, two pipe sections, assembly means for a water-tight link between said sections, optional tensioning means for transmitting an axial tension to the elongated pipe, and means for attaching ballast to the elongated pipe.
Abstract:
An apparatus for clamping elongate elements in a parallel piggybacked arrangement during subsea laying of the elements is disclosed. The apparatus has opposed reciprocating jaws for forcing together clamp segments around the elongate elements to assemble a piggybacking clamp that applies clamping forces to the elongate elements.
Abstract:
A method of positioning on the sea floor, from a floating vessel, an unlaid end portion of a pipe that is being laid from its other end on the sea floor is disclosed. The method includes lowering the unlaid end portion of the pipe to a lowered position above the sea floor. Transfer of the load of the unlaid end portion of the pipe occurs from the lowering device to a line for suspending the unlaid end portion of the pipe. Lowering the line for suspending and the unlaid end portion of the pipe occurs. There is disclosed a corresponding method of recovery as well as associated apparatus. A method for effecting a subsea connection between one line and an object suspended below the surface of the sea by another line and associated apparatus are disclosed.
