Abstract:
Rotary motion devices (10) are provided. In one embodiment, the rotary motion devices (10) may comprise: a mass (12); a circumferential component (14); a plurality of spokes (16) connecting the mass (12) to the circumferential component (14), at least one of the spokes (16) comprising an electroactive polymer, wherein: the at least one spoke (16) has at least one input electrode and is configured to deflect upon application of an electrical potential across the at least one input electrode, and the rotary motion device (10) is configured such that deflection of the at least one spoke (16) causes the mass (12) to move, thereby causing the rotary motion device (10) to become off balance with respect to gravity, and rotate.
Abstract:
Angular motion driving mechanism comprising, mounted on a supporting structure (SUP), a gear wheel (GW) for intermittent rotational movement in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions within an arc bounded by first and second angular positions (α1 and α2, respectively) of the gear wheel (GW) with respect to the supporting structure (SUP), a driving gear (DG) being drivingly coupled to the drive motor (DM) and to the gear wheel (GW) imparting rotational movement to the gear wheel (GW) from said first to said second position (α1 to α2, respectively) in an active mode of the drive motor (DM), a coiled torsion return spring (RS), which is flexed against its bias at rotational movement of the gear wheel (GW) from the first to the second angular position α1 to α2 in the active mode of the drive motor (DM), and which relaxes in the non-active mode of the drive motor (DM) by urging the gear wheel (GW) to return from the second to the first angular position (α2 to α1, respectively). To avoid damaging peak collision impact when stopping the gear wheel in its return swing at its first angular position α1, the angular motion driving mechanism comprises a flexible end stop being constituted by a member (BT1) structurally fixated to the gear wheel (GW) and in said first position α1 engaging with an first embossement (E1) of said supporting structure (SUP), said member (BT1) being flexed at contact collision with said first embossement (E1).
Abstract:
A bidirectional synchronous gearing mechanism includes a first gear with a first and second gear profile and a second gear identical to the first gear and with identical first and second gear profiles. The teeth of the two gears are meshed together and the gears are rotatably secured about their respective central axes. Rotation of one of the gears causes rotation of the other gear in an opposite direction.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a roller bearing for performing swivel motions including a mechanism for synchronously guiding the roller bearing cage, including a roller bearing cage having a journal with a rotatable pinion gear flexibly and elastically mounted thereon in the direction of the circumference of the cage by a crosspiece, the pinion gear having teeth which mesh with at least one set of teeth on the bearing parts of the roller bearing. Stops are provided to limit the motion of the pinion gear.
Abstract:
An actuator arrangement includes epicyclic gearing having compound planetary gears each of whose pinions respectively mesh with a ring gear on a relatively fixed body and with two output ring gears to drive the latter in opposite directions relative to the body. The pinions which mesh with the ring gear on the body are free to rotate with respect to the remaining pinions and also mesh with a sun gear which is separate from, but driven by, the sun gear which drives the remaining pinions. The arrangement permits the gearing to overcome dimensional restraints imposed by prior art systems.
Abstract:
The operating mechanism for a window includes an electric motor fastened to a mounting plate which is a unitary zinc diecasting formed with bearings, backing surfaces, and retaining claws for the movable elements of the mechanism including a gear wheel driven by the motor and a circumferentially toothed segment meshing with the gear wheel. A guide sleeve pivoted on the plate slidably receives the window operating lever, one end of which is hingedly connected to a radial crank arm on the segment. Angular movement of the segment is limited by an abutment on the plate, and a spiral spring biases the segment away from the position of abutment in a direction to assist lifting of the window and to brake its descent.
Abstract:
A table supporting a three dimensional movement probe mounted on roller bearings for two dimensional horizontal movement, is contained in a spring loaded C-clamp frame which includes means for vertical movement.
Abstract:
Feeding means for feeding stock to the dies of a cold pilger mill and the like, comprising a pair of feed carriages having the usual stock clamps, and means for moving the carriages in opposite directions on the machine bed in line with the dies. The clamps on the carriage moving toward the dies are engaged with the stock to feed the same, while the clamps of the carriage moving away from the stock are disengaged from the latter. Means are provided to move the carriages in increments, including a novel drive coordinated with crank shaft movement to feed the stock within a planned and predetermined crank range and variably adaptable to suit the quality and degree of deformation of the stock.
Abstract:
