摘要: A pod (10) arranged to support a load (14) and absorb shock experienced by the load includes a body (18) and a face (16) spaced from the body and oriented to be mounted to the underside of a load placed on the face. At least one spring assembly (20) is disposed around the periphery of the body and extends between the body and the face to absorb shock experienced by the load. The face and the at least one spring assembly form a cavity configured to receive a body of a like pod disposed thereabove when arranged in a stacked orientation. The pod may also be incorporated into a pallet assembly (90, 110).

摘要: The present invention is a novel shock-absorbing mount (20) to protect shock sensitive equipment mounted thereon. It has a configuration of a C shape but contains various angles therein to increase the utility and agility of the shock absorbing mount (20). 摘要: A method is described for using a particular spring element to facilitate the transfer of deck modules to a hull or jacket during the construction of an off-shore well platform. The spring element not only absorbs energy from the compressive loading expected during the transfer, but also resists any shear loading caused by relative motion between the module and the jacket or hull caused by the operation being performed in a body of water. The spring element includes two significantly different resistances to crushing when subjected to compressive loading including an initial resistance during which significant energy is absorbed. The spring element is also provided on the carrier barge between the barge and the deck module so that if the carrier barge should reengage the module once the transfer has been started, damage will be inhibited.

摘要: A vibration isolating mount for use with a vibratory pile driver and extractor is comprised of a pair of identical plates that are spaced from each and are interconnected by a polyether-based urethane center member. Each of the plates are provided with pluralities of attachment holes for attaching the vibration isolating mount between an exciter and a suspension housing of a vibratory pile driver and extractor. Each of the plates is also provided with pluralities of lug holes that are filled with the polyether-based urethane of the center member and provide a mechanical connection between the plates and the center member in addition to a chemical bond adhering the plates to the center member. The structural characteristics of the vibration isolating mount and the polyether-based urethane employed in constructing the mounts provide a vibration isolating mount that is capable of sustaining larger shear stress forces than prior art mounts and is more capable of resisting deterioration by exposure to the environment than are prior art vibration isolating mounts.

摘要: An elongate body of elastomeric material of substantially uniform width and thickness has support plates fixedly attached to opposite ends of the body of elastomeric material. The plates are oriented substantially parallel to each other and normal to the longitudinal axis of the body of elastomeric material. A rigid wedge member is mounted within and transversely of the body of elastomeric material between and in spaced relation to the plates. The wedge member forms a wedge angle in the body of elastomeric material for controlling the direction of buckling.

摘要: To increase a compactness of damping systems intended to operate in the event of a dynamic landing of an aircraft, a damping system comprises a primary damper device and a secondary damper device. The primary damper device comprises at least one beam, each beam extending along a direction of a longitudinal axis. The damping system is configured so that at rest, the primary damper device has a stiffness greater than a stiffness of the secondary damper device in the direction of the longitudinal axis. When a force is applied to the damping system along the direction of the longitudinal axis, with a value less than a limit value, each beam remains in a compression state. When the force applied has a value greater than or equal to the limit value, each beam undergoes buckling and the secondary damper device undergoes elastic deformation.
