摘要： A brake drum includes a ring-shaped drum body, and a friction member secured to the inner circumferential surface of the drum body. Because the drum body is formed of a lightweight Al alloy and the friction member is formed of an Al-base composite material, the brake drum can be reduced in weight as a whole. Further, because the friction member, having projection portions formed on its outer periphery, is cast enveloped by molten metal of the Al alloy, the friction member and the drum body can be firmly fastened together. Thus, even when a great braking force is applied to the drum brake, the friction member can be prevented from being undesirably detached from the drum body.

The middle band has a first frictional member and a second frictional member which is disposed on an end portion side of the apply bracket to be thinner than the first frictional member, and an oil groove extending in the axial direction and formed between the first frictional member and the second frictional member, and the first frictional member is provided with a dynamic pressure groove which is opened to the oil groove and extending in the circumferential direction.

The brake shoe pad is adjustably received on the bottom of the brake shoe plate. The connector plates are slidably positioned onto the top of the brake shoe plate, and are connected to the brake shoe pad through the brake shoe plate by rivets through corresponding openings formed therein. The connector plates are additionally connected to the brake shoe plate by vertical members, with screws inserted through corresponding openings formed therein.

摘要： The assembly is made by using a formed and fully densified uncured segment of brake lining material. The lining and shoe surfaces to be mated are coated with adhesive, the adhesive is dried for a short time and the lining and shoe are pressed together. A punch then drives partially through the uncured brake lining material, forcing the still soft lining material into holes in the brake shoe, creating a mechanical interlock in addition to the adhesive bond. The shoe and lining are thus held together until fully cured. The staking can be easily performed without expensive confining molds. The adhesive is not required when the mechanical interlock is sufficiently strong to retain the lining under any expected brake torque conditions.
