摘要: A rotational coupling device drives an output synchronous with either of two inputs. The device includes a hub disposed about an axis and an output member supported on the hub for rotation about the axis. First and second input members disposed about the hub are configured to rotate in first and second rotational directions and at first and second speeds, respectively, with at least one of the directions and speeds differing. A clutch member is disposed axially between the input members and coupled to the output member. An electromagnet is on an opposite side of the second input member relative to the clutch member. When the electromagnet is deenergized, the clutch member engages the first input member and the output member rotates with the first input member. When the electromagnet is energized, the clutch member engages the second input member and the output member rotates with the second input member.

摘要: A lubrication system (300) for a transfer case (200) includes a shaft (302) having a lubricant inlet port (306) and a hollow bore (304) for transporting lubricant within the shaft (302), a pump (310) having a pump housing (312) and one or more pumping elements (318) that are disposed in the pump housing (312), and a clutch assembly (330). The clutch assembly 330 has an engaged position in which rotational force from the shaft (302) is transferred to the one or more pumping elements (318) to cause operation of the pump (310), and a disengaged position in which rotational force from the shaft (302) is not transferred to the one or more pumping elements (318). An actuator (370, 410) is operable to cause the clutch assembly (330) to move between the engaged position and the disengaged position.

The bearing races include a coating of thin dense chromium to reduce corrosion and/or damage of the clutch bearing. A transportation refrigeration unit includes a power source (12) and a blower (32) of the transportation refrigeration unit. An electromagnetic clutch (14) is operably connected to the power source and the blower (132) and includes a rotor (16) positioned at a central axis and an armature (18) positioned at the central axis and having an axial air gap (22) to the rotor when the clutch is in a disengaged position. A clutch bearing is located at the central axis and is supportive of the rotor.

摘要: An electric clutch actuator includes a coil having first and second windings, a first end of the first winding being connected to a source of electrical power and a second end of the second winding being connected through a switch such as an FET (field effect transistor) to ground potential. The opposite ends of the windings are connected together through another FET switch to the ground potential. An actuation circuit is responsive to a control signal to turn on the FET switches and cause electrical current to flow primarily through the first winding. The actuation circuit includes a timing circuit which turns off the FET connected to the opposite ends of the windings after a predetermined period of time to cause electrical current from the power source to pass through both of the windings. In a second embodiment, a coil is connected in series with an FET switch to the power supply and the actuation circuit turns on the FET for a predetermined period of time to apply the full voltage of the power supply to the coil thereby rapidly actuating the electromagnetic clutch and then generates a pulsed wave form to alternately turn on and off the FET to hold the electromagnetic clutch in the actuated position.

An electromechanical rotating clutch assembly is provided that includes a rotor, an armature, and an electromagnetic coil. The electromagnetic coil is operable to selectively engage the rotor with the armature.
