Abstract:
A two-piece barrel nut includes an internal nut with an externally threaded portion on one end and a plurality of engageable members on the opposite end, and an external nut with an internally threaded portion on one end that receives the externally threaded portion of the internal nut and one or more receptacles on the other end that each may receive a fastener that engages at least one of the plurality of engageable members on the internal nut to lock the external nut to the internal nut. A method for using the barrel nut to attach a barrel to a firearm is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A tamper-resistant fastener assembly having a threaded main body section, an outer protective sleeve and an internal channel housing bearings that provides rotation of the sleeve about the main body and a customized locking head and key configuration providing limited installation and removal of the fastener. The fastener can be a nut or a bolt with internal or external threading.
Abstract:
A locking nut and bolt assembly for stacking rotating wheels is disclosed. The assembly may include a tie bolt extending through the stack of rotating wheels. The assembly also may include a locking nut positioned on an end of the tie bolt. The locking nut may include a closed cap.
Abstract:
A bolt arrangement for connecting at least two mechanical elements. The arrangement providing a bolt including an outer circumferential peripheral surface extending in a longitudinal direction of the bolt, a sleeve presenting an outer circumferential peripheral surface and an inner circumferential peripheral surface extending in a longitudinal direction of the sleeve between a first and a second axial end of the sleeve. The inner peripheral surface provides a tapering profile in its longitudinal direction. A portion of the outer peripheral surface of the bolt provides a corresponding tapering profile matching the tapering profile of the inner peripheral surface of the sleeve. The sleeve further provides a portion extending radially outwards at one of the first and second axial ends. In addition, a coupling arrangement is disclosed.
Abstract:
A theft-resistant tire mounting assembly for deterring theft of wheels includes a wheel rim. Recesses are positioned proximate to a center of the wheel rim. An opening is centrally positioned in each recess. Nuts are configured to threadedly couple to the stud bolts of a wheel hub. One nut comprises a locknut, which has a second end that comprises an exposed face. A perimeter of the exposed face is complementary to the opening, and a keyhole is positioned in the exposed face. The assembly includes an adapter that has a key end, which is complementary to the exposed face. The locknut is incompatible with the socket of the tire iron, and a wrench is not couplable to a locknut that is threaded to the stud bolt. The key end is positioned to couple to the exposed face such that torque from the tire iron is transferable to the locknut.
Abstract:
A fastener having a fastener body and a protected decorative cap arranged on a head end of the fastener body in a manner that protects the decorative cap from fastener torquing forces applied to said head end that might otherwise damage, disfigure or loosen the cap and that facilitates attachment of the decorative cap to the fastener body.
Abstract:
A tamper-resistant fastener such as a nut for a bicycle has a smoothly rounded generally dome-shaped body and one or more recesses formed into the body. Each recess has a first and open ended portion which is bounded on radially inward side but not on the radially outward side, and a second and closed ended portion which is bounded on both the radially inward side and the radially outward side. Additionally, each recess can have an additional notch formed therein, the recess and notch together forming a major and minor recess. A wall which bounds the radially inward side of the recess decreases in radial distance from the central axis of the nut as the recess proceeds in the circumferential direction. A mating wrench has teeth that match the recesses and, if present, the notches.
Abstract:
A flow drill screw includes a shank that extends along a rotation axis. The shank includes a flow drill portion and a thread portion. A head is attached to the shank at a second axial end of the shank, adjacent the thread portion. An attachment portion extends from the head and away from the thread portion, along the rotation axis. The attachment portion may include a T-stud connector, and is operable to attach a device thereto. A drive tool includes an open interior region for receiving the attachment portion therein. The head of the flow drill screw includes an external drive interface, disposed on an exterior surface of the head, radially about the rotation axis, which mates with an internal drive interface of the drive tool, to transmit torque therebetween.
Abstract:
A screw has a head with a cross-shaped groove having first to fourth wing grooves, each having bilaterally-formed inner side faces defined by opposing base-end inner side faces, opposing intermediate inner side faces and opposing distal-end inner side faces angled at angles relative to each other so that the first angle of the base-end inner side face
Abstract:
Disclosed is a tightening tool for a screw element, having a tool receptacle and an associated line. A coupling part is provided, which is formed at a free end for engaging with the tool receptacle in a form-closed manner and transitions into a handle or can be coupled to a handle at the other end. The coupling part has an interior and at least one lateral opening for inserting or leading out the line at least at the free end of the coupling part. The interior and the opening extend to the free end and are open there. The invention further relates to a coupling part and to a screw element.
