Wind turbine consisting of an anchoring to the ground or to a base and a mast, the natural oscillation frequency of which is purposely adjusted to the frequency of appearance of the air vortices or eddies produced after the collision of a laminar and stationary airflow against the surface thereof. The aeroelastic energy thus absorbed is converted into electrical energy due to the use of materials with high electromechanical coupling.

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for collecting and converting solar energy into electrical energy by using a solar collector and one or more piezoelectric generators. The present invention includes new designs for solar collectors that concentrate solar energy, and mechanisms for transporting and transferring the concentrated solar energy directly into the working fluid (e.g., a liquid, a gas, or a phase change substance) of the one or more piezoelectric generators without heating the outside surface of the engines. The system includes one or more solar collectors and a delivery system to deliver concentrated energy from the collectors directly into working fluid of one or more piezoelectric generators. Advantageously, the delivery system avoids heating an outside surface of the one or more piezoelectric generators as is done in conventional designs. Additionally, the delivery system can be configured to distribute collected energy to the one or more piezoelectric generators with offset heating cycles.

Method and apparatus for generating electrical energy from a subject's body by sensing pulsations of a part of the subject's cardiovascular system and converting such pulsations into electrical energy. In one described preferred embodiment, pulsations of an artery of the subject are sensed and converted. into electrical energy by utilizing the pulsations to pump liquid with respect to an electrical coil to generate an electrical voltage in the coil. In another described embodiment, pulsations of the heart are sensed; and in a further described embodiment, the pulsations are converted to electrical energy by a piezoelectric device.

Wind turbine blade comprising at least one deformable trailing edge section having a plurality of actuators consecutively arranged substantially downstream from one another and a control system for controlling the actuators, wherein a downstream end of one actuator is connected by a substantially rigid link with an upstream end of the next actuator and the plurality of actuators comprises an upper actuator being mounted above a chord line of the blade section and a lower actuator being mounted below a chord line of the blade section. Wind turbines comprising such a blade and methods of controlling loads on a wind turbine blade are also described.

An apparatus for harnessing the energy derived from the undulatory motion of a body of water includes an assembly having a buoyancy sufficient for maintaining it afloat in the water, a first structure substantially following multidirectional undulatory motions of the water and a second structure mounted in the assembly for free movement in a plurality of planes with respect to the first structure. The second structure is displaceable by gravity and by forces derived from the motions of said first structure. There is further provided a device connected to the first and second structures for generating a pressure output in response to the force derived from the relative motions between the first and second structures. An arrangement is coupled to the pressure output of the device for utilizing, at least indirectly, the energy derived from the pressure output.

A magnetohydrodynamic electric generator for the direct energy conversion of the kinetic energy of saline water flowing through a magnetic field, preferably in the constricted part of a duct. Means may be provided to increase the kinetic energy of the flowing saline water using wave-powered air compressors and/or water pumps. Also described are sea platforms containing a multitude of electricity generators in a configuration to maximize the conversion of the kinetic energy of flowing saline water into electric energy.

An apparatus for converting wave energy into electrical energy including a float element excited at a defined frequency by the waves. A power extraction system collaborates with the float element to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, the mechanical energy coming from the movement of the float element excited by the waves. The power extraction system takes the form of a frequency amplifier made up of at least two piezoelectric motors each composed of at least one piezoelectric post excited at a frequency higher than that of the float, and a member for activating said piezoelectric motors acting on the piezoelectric motors so as to squash said piezoelectric posts. Each piezoelectric motor has a mechanical amplification device connected to rollers and includes a) jaws able to apply mechanical stress to the posts, b) a lever acting on the jaws with a proximal end connected to said jaws and a distal end connected to a roller in contact with the member so as to activate said piezoelectric motor.
