Abstract:
Non-limiting exemplary embodiments of a pumping system and methods for operating the pumping system in a region of high pressure or a region of high flow are disclosed. The pumping system includes a piston disposed within a piston cylinder, a drive shaft, an eccentric coupled to the drive shaft, a connecting arm having opposing first and second ends, and a controller for controlling the rotation of the drive shaft such that the piston oscillates within a region of high pressure or a region of high flow.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a reciprocating compressor. The reciprocating compressor includes a latching unit by which a piston is reciprocated by two times a total eccentric amount obtained by adding an eccentric amount of an eccentric portion to an eccentric amount of an eccentric sleeve in a power mode, while the piston is reciprocated by two times the eccentric amount of the eccentric portion in a saving mode, accordingly the piston can have an upper dead point same in the power mode and the saving mode, thereby reducing a dead volume between the piston and a discharge valve and increasing a variable ratio of a cooling capacity of the compressor in the saving mode.
Abstract:
A hydraulic machine which can exchange hydraulic fluid pressure with rotational motion of an input/output means, having a radial arrangement of a plurality of hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies about a crankshaft, the hydraulic cylinder and piston assemblies being longitudinally spaced along the crankshaft; and a means for varying eccentricity of the crankshaft whereby reciprocal motion of the pistons within the respective hydraulic cylinders is consequential to rotational motion of the crankshaft about the longitudinal axis of the crankshaft.
Abstract:
A variable displacement reciprocating pump with pumping rate that is adjustable from zero to maximum stroke while the pump is running. Stroke is varied by changing relative position of pairs of eccentric inner and outer cams that drive the pump's plungers. The pump's input drive shaft drives two gear trains: a first gear train that turns the inner cams and a second gear train that turns the outer cams. These cams normally revolve together with no relative motion occurring between them. A rotary actuator is positioned in the first gear train to rotate the inner cams relative to the outer cams and thereby changes the pump's stroke. A computerized system of sensors and control valves allows the pump to be automatically controlled or limited to any one or combination of desired output flow, pressure and horsepower.
Abstract:
A two stage reciprocating compressor and associated HVAC systems and methods are disclosed. The reciprocating compressor includes a crankshaft having an eccentric crankpin, a reversible motor for rotating the crankshaft in a forward and a reverse direction, and an eccentric, two position cam rotatably mounted over the crankpin. The crankshaft and cam combine to cause the piston to have a first stroke when the motor operates in the forward direction and a second stroke when the motor operates in the reverse direction. The cam and crankpin also include stabilization means to restrict the relative rotation of the cam about the crankpin. A lubrication system is provided to lubricate the engaging surfaces of the crankshaft and cam and between the cam and the bearing surface of the connecting rod. There is also provided a control for selectively operating the motor either in the forward direction at a first power load or in the reverse direction at a reduced second power load. A protector for the motor is also provided. In addition, the application of the reciprocating compressor to both air conditioning and heat pump systems is disclosed.
Abstract:
A reciprocating piston compressor having at least one cylinder, a reciprocable piston disposed in the cylinder, a crankshaft rotatable in both a forward and a reverse direction, the crankshaft having a cylindrical eccentric portion, a latching member pivotally engaged with the crankshaft, a cam disposed about the crankshaft eccentric portion, the piston operatively connected to the cam, and a spring connected to one of the cam and the crankshaft, the position of the latching member influenced by the spring. The cam is rotatable about the crankshaft eccentric portion between a first cam position corresponding to a first piston stroke length during forward rotation of the crankshaft, and a second cam position corresponding to a second piston stroke length during reverse rotation of the crankshaft. In one of the first and second cam positions, the cam is rotatably locked to the crankshaft eccentric portion by the latching member.
Abstract:
Apparatus for sequentially dispensing flowable materials including a positive displacement metering-pump operated by an actuator capable of reciprocating pivotal movement within a range having an angular extent less than 180.degree.. A link member connects the pivotal actuator to the plunger of the positive displacement pump for causing the pump to dispense liquid when the pump actuator is operated. The pump stroke adjuster can selectively vary the distance between the link member and the pivot axis of the pump actuator for, in turn, controlling the stroke of the pump.

Abstract:
An adjustable rotor and/or a radial piston machine which may utilize an adjustable rotor. The rotor has a primary eccentric rotatable around an axis and a secondary eccentric adjustable in position relative to the primary eccentric. The radial piston machine includes a plurality of piston cartridges arranged radially around the axis and both high pressure and low pressure fluid distribution systems. Multiple units may be axially coupled. A single unit may handle a variety of fluids in various combinations.

A multi-cylinder compressor 10 particularly useful in connection with northern climate heat pumps and in which different capacities are available in accordance with reversing motor 16 rotation is provided with an eccentric cam 38 on a crank pin 34 under a fraction of the connecting rods, and arranged for rotation upon the crank pin between opposite positions 180.degree. apart so that with cam rotation on the crank pin such that the crank throw is at its normal maximum value all pistons pump at full capacity, and with rotation of the crank shaft in the opposite direction the cam moves to a circumferential position on the crank pin such that the overall crank throw is zero. Pistons 24 whose connecting rods 30 ride on a crank pin 36 without a cam pump their normal rate with either crank rotational direction. Thus a small clearance volume is provided for any piston that moves when in either capacity mode of operation.
