Embodiments of the invention provide a system and method for induction heating a helical rotor of a progressing cavity pump in order to reduce the surface roughness of the rotor. In order to heat the rotor most evenly, it is desired to space the coil as closely around the rotor as possible. The invention provides a mechanism for threading the helical rotor through an induction coil having an interior diameter which is less than the major diameter of the rotor. The induction coil may include one loop and overlapping ends. The rotor to be heated is rotated about its longitudinal axis and advanced axially through the coil as it rotates. The axial speed and rotational speed are synchronized so that the rotor moves one pitch through the coil for each complete rotation.

The diaphragm pump includes a storage hopper which is subjected to inert gas at ambient pressure and which serves for the storage of the dust. A sluicing vessel is provided which is connected via an inlet in the upper region, via a shut-off fitting and via a dust supply line to the dust store of the storage hopper, and is connected via an outlet in the lower region and via a shut-off fitting to a high-pressure device. A diaphragm is mounted in the sluicing vessel. An expansion line is provided, one end of which is connected via a filter element to the sluicing vessel and into which a shut-off fitting is incorporated. The diaphragm pump includes charging line which is connected via a filter element and via a shut-off fitting to the sluicing vessel.

The apparatus and method include a filter media operatively positioned between a headspace in the storage tank and the atmosphere, wherein: (i) a gaseous substance from a headspace in the storage tank passes through the filter media to be vented to the atmosphere; (ii) the filter media comprises a permeable substrate and a liquid stripper for a VOC, wherein the liquid stripper coats the permeable substrate; (iii) the filter media provides a gaseous back pressure across the filter media to the atmosphere of less than 1 psig; and (iv) a liquid condensate from the filter media can drip or flow under gravity back into the storage tank.
