A control cap is connected to the valve body and contains an integrated sensor that is used to provide an engine control module with pressure readings from the valve body and the interior portion of the cap. Additionally the cap also has an integrated zero emissions system that is capable of preventing the release of harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.

    摘要: A controller and method for controlling EGR in a pressure boosted engine. A valve seat is provided in the EGR passage and a hollow actuator rod is moved by a pressure-responsive diaphragm to control flow. The diaphragm senses boost inlet pressure in a chamber supplied through a port in the rod which extends through the boost air inlet passage. In another embodiment a restrictor valve is provided in the exhaust pipe downstream of the EGR passage. The valve is closed at idle to divert exhaust to the EGR passage. As boost pressure increases, a separate pressure tap supplies a second pressure-responsive diaphragm to open the restrictor valve.

    摘要: An engine intake system including a supercharger of a type wherein the intake air drawn from the intake air inlet port is compressed by the pressure of the exhaust gas before it is discharged through the intake air outlet port. An exhaust gas recirculation passage is provided between the exhaust passage upstream of the supercharger and the intake passage downstream of the supercharger. The recirculation passage can be used for decreasing the pressure difference between the exhaust gas and the intake air to thereby minimize the engine pumping loss. Further, the recirculation passage can be used for recirculating the exhaust gas to the intake passage to thereby decrease nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas.

An EGR valve has a first chamber applied with the pressure at an EGR port in an intake passage and a second chamber applied with the pressure in the intake passage at upstream of a throttle valve so as to open the EGR valve. A control valve is provided to be operated pressures in the intake passage to control the pressure in the second chamber so as to open the EGR valve at heavy load on the engine.

    摘要: An automotive vehicle having a diesel engine, a throttle system actuable to control the engine speed, a vacuum pump driven by the engine and forming, at least in part, a vacuum pressure source, and an EGR system. The EGR system comprises an EGR valve and a valve controller for governing the level of vacuum pressure communicated to the EGR valve from the vacuum pressure source. The valve controller has a housing defining an output port for supplying operating pressure to the EGR valve, an input port communicating with the vacuum pressure source, and an input port communicating with ambient atmospheric pressure. Regulator valving means in the housing includes a control member movable to control communication between the output port and the input ports to govern the valve operating vacuum pressure level. Throttle position responsive means exerts actuating force on the control member to alter the output pressure. The throttle position responsive means comprises a lever connected to the throttle system, a cam supported by the housing and driven by the lever and a resiliently deflectable force transmitting element between the cam and the control member for applying force to the control member depending on the position of the lever.

    摘要: An apparatus for controlling the atomization of fuel in an electronically fuel injection device for internal combustion engine, by jetting air or exhaust gas into the injection device so as to mix the air or the exhaust gas with the fuel thereby to atomize the fuel. The apparatus has a regulator adapted to maintain the pressure of the air or the exhaust gas at a level higher than the pressure in the main air passage by a predetermined pressure. The regulator has a housing in which a back pressure chamber and a control chamber are defined at both sides of a diaphragm accommodated by the housing. The back pressure chamber receives the air pressure transmitted from the downstream side of a throttle valve and accommodates a spring which urges the diaphragm toward the control chamber, while the control chamber receives the air from the upstream side of the throttle valve or the exhaust gas. A valve operatively connected to the diaphragm opens and closes the passage between the control chamber and the fuel injection device thereby to control and regulate the pressure of the air or the exhaust gas supplied to the fuel injection device.

    摘要: Engine manifold vacuum is inverted by an in-line vacuum inverter which provides a power source for an EGR valve actuator for providing desired EGR flow in a predetermined range of engine power loading and EGR flow is cut off outside the range. The invention utilizes a vacuum inverter employing a pair of spaced diaphragms for controlling an atmospheric air bleed valve to a vacuum chamber powered by manifold vacuum. The diaphragms are spring loaded so as to seek equilibrium positions as vacuum in the chamber varies force. The inverter produces a vacuum output signal which changes inversely with changes in engine manifold vacuum.
