    摘要: A configuration of tandem high efficiency primary windows is disclosed as both a structure and method to enhance the energy efficiency of windows. Each of the tandem windows is separately installed, respectively, on the exterior and interior of a building window opening. Each window may be separately operable for opening, closing, and cleaning. The interior window can include a cover, surrounding any part of the frame that protrudes into the interior space, the cover having an air gap for interior air to circulate and remove moisture from the interior surfaces of the interior window and its frame. The space between the windows is vented for removal of water vapor, if necessary, by a tube that extends from the space to the outside or to the cold side of the window opening, the tube having features that prevent the entry of outside into the space between the windows.

    摘要: A main support frame is formed from sections of a plastic extrusion and has opposite side portions with peripheral recesses receiving an inner sash unit and outer sash unit each having a frame formed from sections of a plastic extrusion and supporting an insulated glass window unit. Hinges support the dual sash units for pivotal movement between open and closed positions, and gear connected telescopic link members connect the main frame to the sash frames for simultaneous movement. A lock system includes a handle on the inner sash unit for moving straps with studs on the sash frames through a connector mechanism mounted on the main frame for simultaneously locking and releasing both sash units and for releasing only the inner sash unit. A screen and/or mini-blind may be supported between the sash units, and the window system with dual sash units may be constructed in various forms.

    摘要: A sliding window assembly (35) including a window frame and at least two glass panes (38, 39). At least one of the glass panes (38, 39) slides within the frame between an open position and a closed position, wherein one of the edges of each pane overlaps to form overlapping edges (42, 43). First and second rails (44, 45) are connected to the overlapping edges (42, 43) and cooperate to form a seal between them in the closed position. Each rail (44, 45) is formed from a metal component (46) and a plastic component (51) that are formed separate from each other and are assembled in nesting connection. The seal in the overlap between the overlapping edges (42, 43) in the closed position of the panes (38, 39) is formed between the plastic components (51) of the first and second rails (44, 45). The metal components (51) of the first and second rails (44, 45) are spaced from contact with each other and extend to overlie outwardly facing surfaces of the first and second panes (38, 39).
