    Abstract: A door hinge is provided to slant such that a free end of a door is rotated obliquely upward while the door is opened, and an energizing type balancer to assist an opening/closing operation of the door is provided. A hinge axis of the door hinge slants relative to a vertical line, having an upper side thereof being positioned on an inward side in a vehicle width direction and on a forward side in a vehicle longitudinal direction such that a locus of the free end of the door while the door is opened becomes substantially horizontal or lowers in an opening direction at a point before the door is opened to a maximum open position.

    Abstract: A hinge mechanism includes first torsion shafts, a first torsion sleeve, second torsion shafts, a second torsion sleeve, a first fixing assembly, a second fixing assembly and a third fixing assembly. The first fixing assembly is engaged with the adjacent first and second torsion shafts respectively. The third fixing assembly is engaged with the second torsion shaft away from the first torsion shafts. The first, second and third torsion shafts interfere with each other.

    Abstract: A hinge assembly for the door of a refrigerated cabinet includes a hinge bracket that is secured to a cabinet weld assembly by passing a plurality of fasteners through the bracket and weld assembly and securing the fasteners to a first leg of a substantially L-shaped mounting arm such that the cabinet weld assembly is sandwiched between the first leg and the bracket. The bracket includes a load bearing surface supporting a pivot pin defining a pivot axis for the door. The mounting arm includes a second leg which is arranged at a predetermined angle, preferably ninety degrees, with respect to the first leg thereof. After the bracket is secured to the first mounting leg, the second leg assumes a static position from which it is rotated and is secured to a bottom panel of the cabinet. Rotation of the second leg of the mounting arm creates an inward preload on the cabinet weld assembly and causes a toe-in of the hinge bracket. The door, when pivotally mounted between the lower hinge bracket and an upper hinge bracket secured at the top of the cabinet, is biased upward at its handle side due to having pivoted about the upper hinge. This arrangement prevents the handle side of the door from dropping beyond a perpendicular position due to static and dynamic forces exerted thereon.

    Abstract: The present invention is a flexible hinge for mounting a first panel to a second panel with both the first and second panels having a complex contoured surface. In the disclosed embodiment, the panels are a door panel and the windshield of a boat. The hinge includes brackets mounted to the door panel and the windshield. A flexible pin is inserted into adjoining sockets on the brackets to interconnect them and permit them to pivot with respect to one another. The flexible pin bends as the brackets pivot permitting the brackets to deflect with respect to one another along the longitudinal centerline of the sockets. The preferred flexible pin includes a coil spring and a core pin with the core pin being inserted into the coil spring to increase the shear strength of the coil spring.

    Abstract: A door hinge assembly pivotably mounts a vehicle door member to a body structure member. The assembly includes a first hinge strap mounted to one of the members and having a vertical opening. A second hinge strap is mounted to the other member and has a spherical concave surface. A hinge pin is interposed between the hinge straps. The hinge pin has a portion received by the vertical opening of the first hinge strap. The hinge pin has a spherical convex surface for engaging the concave surface of the second hinge strap allowing variance in relative orientation of the hinge pin to the second hinge strap. The hinge pin is rotatably retained to one of the hinge straps allowing pivotable movement between the members. A removable retention bolt is carried between the hinge pin and the other hinge strap for retaining the hinge pin to the other hinge strap. The retention bolt allows removable retention of the door member to the body structure member. The concave and convex surfaces allow for variance in relative orientation of the hinge pin to the second hinge strap.
