    摘要: An example buckling restrained brace (“BRB”) includes a casing exhibiting a hollow cross-sectional shape defining an interior region. The BRB also includes a core and at least a portion of the core is disposed in the interior region of the casing. For example, the casing may exhibit a first length and the core may exhibit a second length that is greater than the first length such that a portion of the core extends from the casing. The core is separated from the casing by an minimum gap distance along at least a portion of the first length of the casing and a corresponding portion of the second length of the core.

    摘要: An elongate structure for supporting heavy loads includes an elongate hollow cylinder having a longitudinal axis of symmetry. Stress-distributing strengthening members are circumferentially positioned about and secured to the hollow cylinder in parallel relation to the longitudinal axis of symmetry. A first flat plate is disposed in overlying relation to the hollow cylinder and to the first, upper pair of strengthening members and a second flat plate is disposed in underlying relation to the hollow cylinder and to the second, lower pair of strengthening members. The second flat plate is disposed in a horizontal plane in parallel and diametrically opposed relation to the first flat plate. A key extends from a first end of the hollow cylinder and a mating socket is formed in a second end of the hollow cylinder to facilitate end-to-end interconnection of a plurality of the hollow cylinders.

    摘要: A framework system for buildings and other structures having a plurality of structural columns each having a wall structure of generally circular cross-sectional configuration defining an internal chamber and having a number of pairs of elongate external undercut grooves extending the length of the column and defining internal elongate grooves also extending the length of the column. Structural framework members extend between adjacent ones of the structural columns and define opposed ends. Gripper members are mounted to the ends of each of the structural framework members and each have a pair of spaced hook-like lateral retainer flanges disposed in retaining engagement within the elongate external undercut grooves. A structural member extends the length of the internal chamber and has radially oriented structural flanges each being received within one of the internal elongate grooves.
