    摘要: An architectural cover panel system of individually adaptive panels for covering structural support members of an underlying structure such as girders. An individual adaptive panel includes a sheet of flexible material having a generally convex cross-section and is provided with corrugations oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the panel. In one preferred embodiment the convex panel is provided with edge portions attached to the lateral sides of the panel. The edge portions are similarly provided with corrugations oriented parallel to and intersecting or merging into the corrugations of the convex panel portion. In other embodiments of the invention, panels having radial corrugations are used allowing the panels to respond to dimensional changes due to temperature effects and to resist wind forces without deforming the shape of the overall structure, and panels with diagonal corrugations provide bidirectional flexibility.

    摘要: A molded roof section for use with dwelling units includes a domed main body portion which is arranged with a leading edge, an opposite trailing edge, and two side edges. The leading edge is configured with strengthening ribs and a defined groove while the trailing edge also including strengthening ribs is configured with a tongue such that the leading edge of one roof section may be assembled to the trailing edge of the contiguous roof section by a tongue-in-groove assembly concept. The side edges of said roof section are arranged with downwardly opening channels which are spaced so as to correspond to the spacing between dwelling unit side walls. Each roof section is molded of a high-density polymer foam as a homogeneous, unitary member and each roof section may be easily and readily lifted in place and lowered onto the side walls such the side walls fit into the downwardly opening channels of each section. In order to complete the entire roof for the dwelling, additional molded roof sections are applied, each additional section being assembled to the dwelling in a similar manner.

    摘要: A roof is assembled conventionally from cladding supported by purlins or girders extending between end walls of the building. The cladding can be metal. By providing a single structural spanning member, the requirement for girders or purlins is avoided and construction work is simplified. The usefulness of the structural spanning member is measured by the unsupported span that can be erected when the member is formed from sheeting material of stock width, conventionally with steel 1 or 1.2 meters, of a given thickness and rigidity. This member achieves the desired solution by a novel configuration in which the whole width of sheeting is utilized to form a single member having a top chord spaced from a bottom chord by a strengthened web, wherein pairs of chords of adjacent members nest to provide a single pitch of the roof.
