Abstract:
A pipe laying plow (100), for operating by moving it forward while pipe (201) is fed therethrough to be laid at a pipe laying depth (D). The plow has a boom (15) held by an above-ground structure (16), and includes a substantially linear pipe feeding tube (3) defining a longitudinal axis (33) in a vertical plane; and a plurality of substantially identically shaped, planar blades (2) attached at regular intervals (BSp) along the tube; a blade length (BL) line intersecting the longitudinal axis (33) at an attachment angle (B), and blade width (BW) lines extending laterally perpendicular to the longitudinal vertical plane; wherein, when the boom is held in operating position, the tube (3) extends longitudinally downward and rearward at a boom angle relative to ground level, and the blades extend lengthwise downward and forward at a plowing angle (A) relative to ground level.
Abstract:
Microtrenching blades and methods of manufacturing the same. A blade a first blade portion comprising a center arbor bore defining a hole through the blade and a second blade portion comprising a plurality of blade segments, wherein the second blade portion is distal to the first blade portion relative to the center arbor bore. The blade includes a plurality of blade scoops disposed around a perimeter of the blade. The blade is such that the plurality of blade segments and the plurality of blade scoops are arranged such that two of the plurality of blade segments are separated by a blade scoop.

Abstract:
The objective of this application is to reveal enhancements and extensions of the previously patented Tractor-Mounted Excavation Implement, awarded Nov. 24, 2015 to Bruce Wade McGee, and assigned U.S. Pat. No. 9,194,103 B2. McGee's Tractor Mounted Excavation Implement is useful in small-scale construction, hobby farming or gardening, landscaping, irrigation, utilities and pipe laying, roadside or city development and maintenance in some areas, land-owner maintenance, and possibly firefighting with rapid excavation needs in some less dense forests. This application adds apparatuses to include usefulness in creating gardening or landscaping beds, and shallow graded excavations for sidewalk or simple slabs. Additionally, several other changes are proposed that enhance and extend usefulness of the implement, including improved power diversion to the implement's apparatuses, improved cutting element configuration, and an enhanced axle that more effectively loosens soil for excavation and “sweeps” excavated soil laterally.
Abstract:
A sprocket having one or more mud relief portions offset from the midpoint between adjacent teeth. The sprocket has a plurality of teeth, and saddle sections disposed on the periphery of the sprocket between each of the plurality of teeth. The saddle has a seat disposed at a midpoint between the adjacent teeth, and one or more mud relief portions disposed on each side of the seat. The mud relief portions are recessed within the sprocket. The mud relief portions may be mirror images of one another, or the saddle may alternatively be asymmetrically formed.
Abstract:
A BAS plow creates a V-trench along the linear route of a pipeline path and an instrumented bottle moving with the BAS plow collects BAS data indicative of the pitch, roll, heading, yaw, three dimensional positioning, speed and depth of the chassis, the shearing force applied to the seabed material and the applied tow force. The bottle can be swapped to collect the acquired data or an umbilical can be used to provide a real time stream of data. The Bas plow can simultaneously backfill the created trench, leaving an undisrupted seabed, or the pipeline can be laid in the BAS trench, which can also be made deeper and wider by additional trench cutting passes, significantly reducing the total time required for combined BAS and pipeline laying processes. The BAS plow can be released and retrieved over-the-stem of a towing vessel.
Abstract:
In one preferred form there is provided an excavation system (10) for a vehicle (12). The excavation system (10) comprises a body (14) for connection to the vehicle (12). An excavation device (18) is provided for being moved by the vehicle (12) to excavate material from the ground. A steering system (24) is provided for altering the steering of the excavation device (10).
Abstract:
A slit trench-excavating plough has an elongate frame supporting components of the plough, a number of side wall-supporters movable longitudinally, about and laterally relative to the frame, a number of wedge-shaped cutters pivoted laterally relative to the supporters. The cutters can be turned by an underground driver coupled between the cutter and the supporter to control the direction of excavation and steer the apparatus. The supporters can be moved by the drivers and rams coupled between the frame and the supporters simultaneously in opposite directions to advance the apparatus continuously.
Abstract:
A rubber tired railway plow (100) has a plow unit (102) mounted to a plate (111) which extends across the forward end of the rubber tired vehicle (100). The plow unit (102) is attached so as to be movable on the plate (111). Wedges (122, 123) are used to maintain the plow unit (102) in position on the plate (111). When the wedges (122, 123) are removed, the plow unit (102) is movable on the plate (111) from one side of the vehicle (100) to the opposite side thereby to be able to plow on either side of the rails (141).
Abstract:
A single arm support apparatus for a rockwheel for excavating a trench through difficult materials, including rock. The rock cutting attachment includes a frame assembly which supports a cutting wheel in a manner that permits it to be inserted into the ground to approximately the radius of the wheel. The cutting wheel mounts to a shaft that is supported by bearings on a single side of the wheel, and is rotationally driven by a hydraulic motor. Additional structure mounted on the frame provides depth control.
