    摘要: A tubular insert sleeve system comprises a tubular insert sleeve for insertion into an excavated hole and a snug fitting and removable safety cover adapted to extend over the upper end of the tubular insert sleeve in order to cover the excavated hole. One or more sleeve fastening apertures are defined through the tubular insert sleeve adjacent the upper end thereof, and are adapted to receive one or more vermiform fasteners for fastening the safety cover to the tubular insert sleeve. Preferably, the sleeve fastening apertures are in the form of handles. In some embodiments, one or more cover fastening apertures are defined through the safety cover and the cover fastening aperture(s) cooperate with the sleeve fastening aperture(s) to receive the vermiform fastener(s) to fasten the safety cover to the tubular insert sleeve.

    摘要: In one embodiment, an electronically controlled hatch system for safe ingress, egress, hazard detection, and methods thereof are provided to reduce or eliminate hazards to personnel, including protection of people above and below a scuttle hatch, access port, skylight or elevated deck. Said hatch system reduces the risk of falls while ascending or descending a ladder through an access port. In certain embodiments, severe weather, hazard, security, and other safety information are detected and transmitted to a central control unit for processing and regulating the opening and closing of a hatch covering the access port and/or raising and lowering a safety railing system based on said information and/or user input. Said hatch system may include an actuator and guides for automatically locking/unlocking and opening/closing a hatch, an actuator and guides for automatically raising/lowering a railing system, safety monitoring detectors/apparatuses, and a centralized controller.

The cover may include a spider including a center portion, a plurality of legs extending radially outward from the center portion, and a plurality of coupling elements. Each leg may be coupled to the lower surface of the plate with a corresponding coupling element. The center portion of the spider may be movable away from the lower surface of the plate to move the spider from a locked position in which a distal end of each leg extends outward to a first radial position to engage the structure to an open position in which the distal end of each leg is withdrawn to a second radial position radially inward of the first radial position to disengage the structure.

    摘要: A riser formed from a plurality of curved cylindrical segments with vertical side edges having mating vertically tapered projections and slots brought into interlocking engagement to pull confronting surfaces together as the tapered elements become increasingly mechanically engaged. The segments are assembled by a sliding engagement of the protruding mating element of one segment into the vertically tapered slot of an adjacent segment. When sufficient segments are joined together horizontally to complete a ring except for a last adjacent pair of vertical side edges, the ring is warped to align the protruding mating element of the last adjacent pair of vertical side edges with an opposite end of the adjacent tapered slot. Thus aligned, the final protruding mating element and tapered slot are then slipped together while un-warping the joined segments forming the remainder of the ring until the top and bottom ends of all the segments are aligned. A cover has a flexible spider on a lower surface that can be locked into a groove or other feature on an inside surface of the curved riser segments.

    摘要: The invention is a manhole construction safety and work platform device having a scaffold catwalk for working on a manhole, providing the safety and work platform with adjustable braces engaging the side of a conical manhole casing. The inner perimeter of the device circumferentially defines a central access opening in order to slidably accept, receive, and fit around the conical section of the manhole casing, as typically used in the utility construction industry. The scaffold catwalk has a safety barrier means on the working surface to provide a safe working environment along the outer perimeter. As is common in the industry, the conical section of the manhole casing may be an asymmetrical conical section. One objective of the present invention is to provide a scaffolding platform supported with at least three adjustable brace members to securely support the said platform against the sidewall of any shape of manhole casing.
