Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing a thermoformable and/or embossable particle/polymer composite using a substrate S based on shredded polymer-coated paper and a thermoplastic polymer P, therewith providing a new method of recycling/upcycling paper waste. Furthermore, a process for the manufacturing of a molded article obtained from the paper-based particle/polymer composite and its use as an element in buildings or in furniture are disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to the field of three-dimensional cellulose-based objects, for example cellulose base packaging materials. In particular, the present invention relates to molded cellulose-based objects with a functionalized surface, for example a surface that reduces water absorption. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a molded cellulose-based object comprising a cellulose gel layer. For example, the cellulose gel layer may be obtained by sulfurization.
Abstract:
There is described a composite board comprising: iv) cellulosic plant material; v) a hydrophilic substance; and vi) an adhesive or resin. There is described a method of making a composite board comprising the steps of: i) providing particulate cellulosic plant material; ii) treating the cellulosic plant material with a hydrophilic substance; iii) adding an adhesive or resin to the cellulosic plant material treated with the hydrophilic substance iv) forming a board with the mixture formed in step iii); and v) drying the board.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for producing a molded fiber article. The process comprises the steps of —dissolving fibrous materials in water to form a fibrous material suspension in a pulper, —removing moisture from the fibrous material suspension by pressing to form a molded fiber article in a mold and/or —drying the molded fiber article by supplying heat, —demolding the molded fiber article from the mold. The process is characterized by the feature whereby, in mold drying of the molded fiber article in the mold, a moisture content of the molded fiber article of not more than 10% by weight or not more than 7.5% by weight or not more than 5% by weight is achieved.
Abstract:
The present invention provides the gas barrier molded article having high permeation barrier properties against oxygen gas, water vapor and the like. A gas barrier material containing cellulose fibers having an average fiber diameter of not more than 200 nm wherein the content of carboxyl group in a cellulose ranges from 0.1 to 2 mmol/g; and further a cross-linking agent having a reactive functional group or the cellulose fibers being dried or heated or a gas barrier molded article containing a molded substrate and a layer composed of the gas barrier material on the surface of the molded substrate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for surface treatment of board based on biological fibrous material comprising a step of contacting the surface of said board based on biological fibrous material with an aqueous solution containing hydrogen peroxide. The invention further concerns a composition suitable such treatment.
