摘要: A method including: providing a portion of double cloth including a first layer joined to a second layer, the layers being joined by a two-dimensional distribution of joining threads obtained by weaving; detaching the first layer from the second layer along an edge zone of the double cloth, to define on the first layer a band in which the first layer is separated from the second layer; cutting the band of the first layer, so that the second layer exhibits a projecting strip which projects with respect to a free edge of the first layer; arranging a further portion of fabric in contact with the second layer; joining the further portion of fabric to the second layer by a joining line arranged along the projecting strip; after the step of joining, turning the further portion of fabric, to move the further portion of fabric away from the second layer.

摘要: An apparatus for cutting off lengths of slide fasteners from a continuous chain thereof includes a cutting punch coactive with an anvil, there being feed rolls disposed in the path of movement of the fastener chain upstream from the cutting punch, and a pair of delivery rolls in such path downstream of the cutting punch. The upper delivery roll is arranged to reciprocate with the cutting punch and to engage the chain before the cutting punch does, and to continue to engage the chain until the cutting punch has been slightly retracted. Such retraction of the delivery roll facilitates feeding of the chain even though the leading end may be slightly curled.

摘要: This invention describes a process for applying a reinforcing or stiffening tape such as buckram or Pellon (registered trademark of the Pellon Corporation, New York, N.Y.) to a panel of drapery or other material directly, without the necessity of pre-marking, measuring or stitching. This is accomplished by the step of adhesively bonding the strip of reinforcing tape near the bottom edge of a panel suspended from the opposite end. Thereafter, the panel and the reinforcing strip adhesively secured thereto, is folded over itself and the reinforcing tape sandwiched between the two layers of panel and secured thereto in the form of a reinforcing heading. The reinforcing tape is mounted in the form of a spool onto a carriage mounted near the bottom of the frame of the tabler. The carriage is mounted for transverse movement across the frame in a straight line so as to adhesively supply one face of the reinforcing tape onto the edge of the panel suspended from the tabler. Since the carriage moves in a perfectly straight line, and since the panel is suspended on the tabler, the strip of adhesively applied tape marks the proper point at which the panel should be folded over onto itself to form the reinforced heading for a panel of the proper length.

摘要: Fibrous mat, e.g. glass fiber, having a sheet facing on one face is wound in continuous lengths with minimum tension, compression, shear and working during the winding and with a large open center. The coils are compressed by a straight line compression generally normal to the major face of the mat and packaged with greater compression than heretofore acceptable in view of the recovery of insulation thickness upon installation. Nearly complete recovery is experienced. Further, stresses on the coiled material during compression and packaging are insufficient to destroy the longitudinal integrity even when it is skip chopped in a manner which separates more readily than prior skip chopped strip. Skip chopped strip is perforated transversely for manual separation at the point of installation by cutting through the tab margins of the facing to the edges thereof and cutting through the mat and facing in a line leaving narrow columns of glass fiber backed by the facing to maintain the longitudinal integrity of the mat. A blade having cutting edges which sever the extremes of the facing margin for a plurality of simultaneously cut strips is employed.
