    摘要: Halogenated alkoxysilane intermediate compounds are described having the formula RSi[OSi(OR').sub.3 ].sub.2 X wherein X is a halogen, R is hydrogen, an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl group and each R' is independently selected from the same group as R with the proviso that at least a majority of R' radicals are sterically hindered alkyl groups having at least 3 carbon atoms. The preparation of these compounds is also described.

    摘要: The invention comprises siloxanes of the formula wherein X is a halogen atom or an alkoxy or hydroxyl radical and n is zero or an integer. The halogen-terminated siloxanes can be made by halogenating the corresponding H-containing siloxanes (which can be made by co-hydrolysis and condensation of [(CH3)3SiO]2Si(OCH3)2 and [(CH3)3SiO]2H.SiOCH3), and the hydroxylate and alkoxylated siloxanes can be obtained from the halogenated siloxanes by hydrolysis and alcoholysis respectively. Examples describe the preparation of {[CH3)3SiO]2XSi}2O, in which X is (1) Cl, (2, 3) -OH and (4) -OCH3, -OC2H5, -OCH(CH3)2 and -OC4H9; Example (5) describes the preparation of siloxanes of the above general formula in which n is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 100 and 1500, and X is Cl, -OH, or alkoxy as specified in Example (4). Uses.-Fluid springs, hydraulic fluids and lubricants or as protective coatings for metals, wood and glass. The H-containing siloxanes can be made as follows:

    摘要: An improved method is disclosed for preparing alkoxysilane cluster compounds having the formula:RSi[OSi(OR').sub.3 ].sub.3wherein R is hydrogen, an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl group and each R' is independently selected from alkyl, alkenyl, aryl and aralkyl with the proviso that at least a majority of the R' radicals are sterically hindered alkyl groups having at least 3 carbon atoms. The improved preparation method involves reacting a substituted trihalosilane with a trialkoxysilanol in the presence of a critical amount of an acceptor base in a solvent reaction medium while maintaining the reactor temperature within a select range.
