    摘要: A reel unwinder including a first unwinding position, in which a first reel is positioned; a second unwinding position, to which the first reel is transferred when it is replaced with a second reel; a stand-by position, in which the second reel is kept in stand-by; a first unwinding member adapted to start rotation of the second reel when the first reel is replaced with the second reel. Moreover, the unwinder includes a second unwinding member, with at least one endless flexible element. The endless flexible element extends from the first unwinding position to the second unwinding position, and is adapted to maintain the first reel in contact with the second unwinding member and in rotation by the second unwinding member in the first unwinding position, in the second unwinding position and while it is being transferred from the first unwinding position to the second unwinding position.

    摘要: A splice is made, between a tail end of first web and a lead end of a second web coiled about an unwind axis, by winding a portion of the first web adjacent the tail end of the first web about a splicing roll mounted for rotation about a splice roll axis oriented substantially parallel to the unwind axis, and then joining the tail end to the lead end by compressing an adhesive between an inside surface of the tail end and an outer surface of the second web. Compression of the adhesive is accomplished by urging the splice roll against the coiled second web while the coiled second web is rotating about the unwind axis in an unwind direction and the splicing roll is rolling about the splice roll axis in a direction opposite to the unwind direction.

    摘要: Successive machine reels are reeled from a paper web (W) so the machine reel (R) that is becoming full is reeled in contact with a movable pressing device (5) at a second reeling nip (N2) in a final stationary reeling station apart from a device (1) forming a first reeling nip (N1). A new, empty reel spool (2) is taken to a transfer device (6) and the change is conducted when the reel spool is located in the transfer device (6). The reel spool (2) with machine reel (R) is transferred after the change by the transfer device (6), while in nip contact with the pressing device (5) away from the first nip contact (N1) to the final reeling station, where the machine reel is reeled so that it becomes full, in nip contact (N2) with the pressing device (5), whereafter the transfer device returns to the change station.

    摘要: A partially unwound roll is moved for splicing with a subsequent parent roll, and the united web is rewound. The torque transmitting means include side clamping mechanisms engaging only the end surfaces of the parent rolls. In one aspect, an automated off-line apparatus and method splice tissue webs from different parent rolls in a finishing unit, and substantially continuous impacts on each web during unwinding splice the webs together. In one aspect, an apparatus and method are disclosed for the production of a soft, high bulk uncreped throughdried tissue web by depositing an aqueous suspension of papermaking fibers onto an endless forming fabric to form a web and through drying the web to final dryness without any significant differential compression to form a dried web having a bulk value of about 15 to 25 cubic centimeters per gram or greater, an MD Stiffness Factor of 50 to 100 kilograms, a machine direction stretch of 15 to 25 percent, and a substantially uniform density. A torque transfer device for unwinding a tissue roll includes a frame having a pair of arms spaced apart to accommodate the width of the roll, each arm having a side clamping mechanism mounted thereon to engage one of the opposite end surfaces of the tissue roll. The side clamping mechanism includes a backing plate connected to and rotatable with an unwind shaft connected to an electric drive, an inflatable bladder mounted on the backing plate, and means for inflating the bladder such that the opposite end surfaces of the roll are sandwiched between the side clamping mechanisms.
