摘要： An apparatus and associated method for drying a wet web of paper comprising a drying section for increasing the dry solids content of a wet web of paper, a cleaning section disposed at least not above the drying section, and a continuous drying fabric forming a loop at least about the drying section and the cleaning section. The fabric receives the web along an upper portion of the loop before the drying section, wherein the web is supported on an upper surface of the fabric. The fabric then transports the web through the drying section in a non-inverting web run to increase the dry solids content of the web before the web is separated from the fabric. Once web is separated from the fabric, the fabric travels through the cleaning section to be cleaned before returning to receive more of the wet paper web thereon.

摘要： In controlling the dryer section of a paper machine, the basis weight and moisture of the paper web, the energy fed into the drying cylinders of the dryer section and the machine speed are measured, and then the surface temperature of the drying cylinders is predicted on the basis of the measured values. At the same time, the actual surface temperature of the dryer cylinders is also measured, and if the measured value deviates from the predicted value, any defects in the drying apparatus can be detected quickly. In another aspect, a determination is made of the normal correlation between the power consumption of the drive motors of the cylinders in the drying apparatus and the machine speed. These variables are also measured, and if the correlation of the variables is deviant, it can be concluded that there is a failure in the drying apparatus. In that case it is possible to identify the dryer cylinder where the failure is by measuring the temperature of the cylinders. This can be determined on the basis of the fact that the dryer cylinder which for example cools down faster than the others is the cylinder where the failure is.

The imprinting fabric continues to support the imprinted web downstream of the hot press at least up to the final drying section.

摘要： An apparatus and process for imprinting a web. A yankee drum and pressure roll are juxtaposed to form a nip. An imprinting member, such as through air drying belt or other patterning belt is interposed in the nip. A felt is also interposed in the nip, contacting the backside of the imprinting member. The imprinting member carries a paper web. The paper web is imprinted in the nip and simultaneously transferred to the yankee drying drum. The nip may be formed with a vacuum roll juxtaposed with the felt. The vacuum roll may remove water from the felt and hence the web.

摘要： A dry end section for a paper-making machine for producing a high-bulk tissue is provided. Such a machine comprises a through-air dryer adapted to finally dry a paper web and a through-air drying fabric configured to transport the web through the through-air dryer. A separating device is included for facilitating separation of the web from the through-air drying fabric. A reel is also provided and is configured to receive the web thereon. The web is received directly on the separating device or on a fabric wrapped about the separating device. In some instances, the web may be compressed between the separating device and an adjacent roll or by a web-compressing device disposed along the fabric transporting the web. The web is then transported to the reel directly from the fabric or other support mechanism extending between the separating device and the reel, without free draw of the web. Associated methods are also provided.
