    摘要: A feeding device that feeds a rolled paper to a printing apparatus is provided with a feeding mechanism, a tension measuring mechanism, and an outlet side guide roller. The feeding mechanism feeds a predetermined amount of the rolled paper in a forward direction so that slack is provided downstream of the outlet side guide roller. Thereafter, positioning is executed while recovering the rolled paper by feeding it in the opposite direction. The feeding mechanism further includes an inlet feeding mechanism and an outlet feeding mechanism. The inlet feeding mechanism performs a backward feeding of a small amount of the rolled paper, and the outlet feeding mechanism performs a forward feeding of a small amount of the rolled paper, in order to increase tension by pulling the rolled paper from both sides. With the feeding mechanism stopped, the tension measuring mechanism measures the tension, and repeats the process for increasing tension until it is not less than a predetermined value. This permits adequate adjustment of the initial state of a long recording medium when loading it, and prevents the recording medium from being consumed in vain due to a preliminary feeding and breakage.

    摘要: An automatically-adjusting tensioning mechanism for use in a roll-fed web media transport system, the tensioning mechanism adding tension to the web media, comprising a bracket assembly being adapted to freely pivot around a pivot axis, and first and second tensioning shoe having curved surfaces attached to the bracket assembly. The web media feeds through the tensioning mechanism in an S-shaped media path where the web media is wrapped around the first and second tensioning shoes. The pivot angle of the bracket assembly automatically adjusts in response to differences in a coefficient of friction between the web media and the tensioning shoes such that the tension in the web media has a reduced level of variability relative to configurations where the bracket assembly is held in a fixed position.

    摘要: A point of sale printer is provided with a large paper supply roll mounted externally from the printer. The printer includes a paper drive which rapidly accelerates and decelerates a paper web extending from the paper supply roll. A tensioning roll is moved in one direction to feed the web into the printer during the relatively slow acceleration of the paper supply roll and in an opposite direction to prevent a tangle of paper as the paper supply roll is decelerated after the printer stops moving the paper web. A cable assembly is provided to facilitate loading the large paper supply roll. A braking spring helps to decelerate the paper supply roll and further engages a flap formed in an outer end of the paper web to thread this end of the web into the printer.
