摘要: In some embodiments, an aircraft includes a structural assembly, a skin, and a snubber. The structural assembly comprises a first rigid element and a second rigid element. The first and second rigid elements are separated from each over by a void. The skin is disposed proximate to the structural assembly and adjacent to the void such that the skin would deflect into the void in response to an impact force received by the skin. The snubber is disposed in the void between the first and second rigid elements and positioned such that, when the skin deflects in response to the impact force, the skin contacts the snubber and the snubber reduces further deflection of the skin into the void.

摘要: A method and a system for detecting the ingestion of an object by an aircraft turbine engine during a mission is disclosed. The method includes: acquiring during the mission digital images of the operating fan of the turbine engine, these images being acquired at an acquisition frequency proportional to the speed of rotation of the fan and to the number of blades of the fan; identifying the different phases of the mission of the aircraft for each phase of the mission; comparing the images of the fan with at least one reference image corresponding to sound operation of the fan; and, if necessary, identifying each abnormal image of the fan which differs from the corresponding reference image, the identification of an abnormal image of the fan corresponding to the crossing of an alert level for detecting the ingestion of an object by the turbine engine.

摘要: Wildlife deterrence methods and systems use mono-colored light within a sensitivity range of a short-wavelength-sensitive (SWS) photoreceptor of a species to be deterred, such as an avian species. The mono-colored light may be generated by one or more high brightness mono-colored light emitting diodes (LEDs) and may be within 25 nm of a peak absorption wavelength of the SWS photoreceptor of the species. The mono-colored light is directed to a deterrence area with an intensity sufficient to cause at least a temporary disruption of visual perception in the species to induce an augmented behavioral response in the species resulting in avoidance of the deterrence area. The mono-colored light may also be generated as intermittent pulses having a duration sufficient to keep a pupil of an eye of the species in a continuous unstable state to prevent light adaption by the species.

摘要: A system for deterring bird strikes on an airborne aircraft is provided. The system includes at least one light configured to project light at optical wavelengths within an avian species optical sensitivity but having low or no observability by pilots. The light is further configured to flash. The system additionally includes at least one audio projection device configured to broadcast alert or predatory calls within avian species auditory capability. The audio projection device is also capable of audio projection in airflow having speeds up to about 250 KIAS.

摘要: A foreign object damage protection system comprises a sensor for detecting a foreign object, a fluid in a reservoir, a means for dispensing the fluid, the means for dispensing the fluid in communication with the reservoir, and a control unit, whereby when the sensor detects a foreign object, the control unit causes fluid to be dispensed from the reservoir through the means for dispensing and towards the foreign object. The sensor is attachable to one or more locations on an aircraft, such as a wing, nose, windshield, fuselage or tail. The sensor can be a radar sensor, weather radar sensor, weather radar sensor modified to detect objects at short ranges, infra-red sensor, forward-looking infrared sensor, a light detection and ranging sensor, motion sensor, thermal sensor, or video sensor. The system provides a way to protect an aircraft from striking foreign objects, such as birds, in the path of the aircraft.
