摘要:
A marine deck member and the process for forming the same are provided. The marine deck member comprises a sandwich-type composite panel made by a compression molding process. In such a process, the panel is made by subjecting a heated stack of layers of material to cold pressing in a mold. The cellular core has a 2-D array of cells, with end faces open to the respective layers or skins. The surface traction of this type of composite panel can be enhanced for marine deck applications by controlled debossing, or embossing, of the first skin while it cools in the compression mold. The debossing effect can be affected by applying pressurized gas, e.g., pressurized air, onto the outer surface of the first skin while in the compression mold. The embossing can be affected by applying vacuum pressure on the outer surface of the first skin while in the compression mold.

A method for manufacturing a laminar construction panel comprising a first (1) and a second (2) metal plate and an acoustic insulation layer (3) interposed there between. The first and second metal plates are connected to each other by a number of locally welded joints distributed over the laminar construction panel and extended through an area of an acoustic isolation layer. The welded joints are formed by stud welding, one of the metal plates is provided with welding openings (4), and a welding pin (7) is pushed through the isolation layer against the other metal plate. The welded joints may be formed by spot welding, both metal plates are brought into electrical connection with the spot welding equipment, and the metal plates locally are pressed toward each other in such a way that mutual electrical contact is made.

A boat hull structure includes an inner layer formed of multiple inner plates each having two mounting flanges at two sides, an outer layer formed of multiple outer plates each having two mounting flanges at two sides, multiple spacer plates connected between the mounting flanges of each two adjacent inner plates and the mounting flanges of each two adjacent outer plates to keep the inner layer and the outer layer in parallel and to define a plurality of independent air chambers between the inner layer and the outer layer, and fastening members affixing the spacer plates to the outer plates and the inner plates.

A method for converting a single-hull vessel to a double hull vessel, and the converted double hull vessel, is disclosed. The single hull vessel to be converted has an outer hull surrounding a center cargo tank flanked by a port wing tank and a starboard wing tank, with spaced-apart transverse bulkheads extending between the port and starboard wing tanks to form one or more central tanks. An elevated floor is added to the central cargo tanks by installing new bottom plating spanning the transverse bulkheads and the sidewalls of the wing tanks. Support members are added to increase the strength of the elevated floor, the cargo tank, and the wing tanks, as needed. A sealed compartment is formed by the new elevated floor, the outer hull, and the sidewalls and bulkheads to protect the cargo from leaking out of the vessel should the integrity of the single hull be breached. The method achieves conversion of the single hull vessel to a double hull construction without breaching the integrity of the pre-existing single outer hull, and thus is faster and easier in converting single hull vessels to minimize cost of conversion and vessel outage.

A composite structural laminate plate suitable for building maritime vessels or for building civil structures such as double hull oil tankers, bulk carriers, barges decks for roll-on roll-off ferries, orthotropic bridge decks or for building any structural application in which the traditional method of construction uses stiffened steel plates. The laminate has two facing metal layers that are structurally bonded to a polyurethane elastomer core which may have steel or rigid foam void sections embedded within. The laminate provides equivalent inplane and transverse stiffness and strength, reduces fatigue problems, minimizes stress concentrations, improves thermal and acoustical insulation, and provides vibration control. The laminate provides a structural system that acts as a crack arrest layer and that can join two dissimilar metals without welding or without setting up a galvanic cell. For applications like double hull oil tankers, the structural system provides an impact resistant structure that isolates the innermost hull skin from cracks, thereby preventing a loss of cargo such as oil into the environment, when accidental or groundings occur and the outer hull is pierced, penetrated, or ruptured.

A vessel of the OBO or bulk carrier type for transportation of bulk cargo, comprising transverse bulkheads (1, 2), is provided with at least one longitudinal centreline bulkhead (100) intersecting the transverse bulkheads (1, 2), the transverse bulkheads and the longitudinal centreline bulkhead (100) forming longitudinal cargo holds (11), and the cargo holds (11) are provided with hatch openings (21) which essentially cover the tank top area (41) of the respective cargo holds (11), providing a substantially “open hatch”, which hatch openings (21) are provided with single piece hatch covers (31).

There is provided a tanker for carrying petroleum products, including crude oil, chemicals or other potentially environmentally harmful materials, having an inner hull and an outer hull and where the void between the inner hull and outer hull at the bottom of the tanker is at or near the minimum spacing required by U.S. and international regulations. The tanker has side tanks for holding ballast, which extend upward from near to or above the ballast water line. The dimensions of each side tank are large enough to hold a sufficient volume of ballast water to keep the tanker in ballast condition meeting U.S. and international regulations for ballast draft. The cross-sectional shape of the side tank is substantially rectangular in the preferred embodiment, although other shapes to most efficiently utilize the space available on the tanker ship also can be used. The tanker also has one or more cargo tanks located inside the inner hull, which tanks also may be substantially rectangular in cross-section and arranged to meet U.S. and international regulations for oil outflow. The void in the bottom of the tanker is not used for cargo or ballast and remains dry.

An existing single hull vessel is rebuilt to provide a double hull vessel by cutting and removing the topside decking and internal vessel structure of the single hull vessel and inserting an inner hull structure within a volume defined by the original hull. The original hull defines an exterior (outer hull) of the rebuilt double hull vessel and the inner hull defines an interior cargo carrying volume and forms a boundary in the event that the outer hull is penetrated. In addition, a trunk structure, raised deck, and lower bulkhead portions may be used to prevent the loss of cargo carrying capacity due to the new double hull. The double hull covers at least the length of the cargo carrying section of the vessel along the bottom and sides of the cargo section. This method of internal double hulling results in the original vessel structure being reused to the maximum extent possible, and the major exterior dimensions and outer hull hydrodynamic characteristics of the vessel remaining substantially the same after the process of double hulling is complete.

A composite structural laminate comprise two outer metal, e.g. steel, layers and an intermediate elastomer core, e.g. of unfoamed polyurethane. The elastomer has a modulus of elasticity of greater than about 250 MPa and tensile and compressive strengths of at least 20 MPa. The strength of the bond between metal and elastomer is at least 3 MPa. The composite structural laminate member acts a single member under load, buckling globally, not asymmetrically.
