摘要: A former allows rectangular tubes of material to be quickly formed for creating bags having rectangular cross sections. The former provides a transition between a round former and a rectangular former so that the material used to form the bag is initially wrapped into a tube around a round former so that the material does not tear on the corners of the former. The round tube of material is then drawn down over the former of the invention to change the round tube to a rectangular tube that may be formed into the bag.

摘要: Machine and method to manufacture fiberboard tubes of polygonal cross-section for use, for instance, as air conditioning piping, forms for molding concrete columns and containers for oil, food and the like. The machine comprises a horizontally disposed tubular former. A first strip of fiberboard of a width equal to substantially the perimeter of the finished product, is scored and fed longitudinally over the tubular former while being bent applied against the faces of the tubular former. Then a second strip of fiberboard is covered with glue, then applied over the first strip along the joint of the latter, then bent, pressed and adhered to the remaining faces of the bent first strip, whereby the resulting product consists of a continuous tube made of two fiberboard layers with the joints on these layers at opposite sides of the tube. Obviously, the elements of the machine may be repeated to form fiberboard tubes of more than two layers. Preferably, means are provided to fill the joint of the first layer to make the joint leak-proof.

摘要: Apparatus for forming continuous tubing from a strip of web-like material such as plastic and the like in which a guide tube is surrounded by a shaping tube and spaced therefrom, said shaping tube having a terminal edge oblique to the longitudinal axis thereof, so that the strip of material in the shape of a longitudinal open channel is advanced at a substantial angle to the axis of the shaping tube and is folded inwardly about the oblique terminal edge thereof so as to surround the guide tube with its longitudinal edges overlapped. The web-like material can be welded or heat sealed along the overlapping edges to form continuous tubing. Also if desired the shaped strip of material can be folded inwardly over the end of the guide tube and a filling pipe can be inserted into the tubing for admitting substances into the tubing so that packages can be formed as the continuous tubing is advanced.

摘要: A former for forming an elongated planar bag-making material into a tubular form is composed of a hollow cylindrical tubular part and a shoulder part which has a planar guide section and is connected to the tubular part along a connecting line surrounding the tubular part. Both the tubular and shoulder parts are formed by cutting a tube-forming piece and a shoulder-forming piece from a flat blank sheet in appropriate shapes and bending these pieces into the shapes of the tubular and shoulder parts. The connecting line is designed such that the angle between its tangent and the axial direction of the tubular part changes at a constant rate. Portions of the edges of the tube-forming and shoulder-forming pieces may be in a shape of a parabola or a hyperbolic function curve, and these pieces are obtained by making a numerical control program from the desired shapes of the curve and controlling a laser cutter by the program to cut a blank sheet in the desired shapes.
