    摘要: The present invention relates a structure and method of manufacturing a unitary double-blade wind shield wiper. The method comprises a thermal forming step, a cutting step, a folding step and preferably a bonding step. In the thermal forming step, a rubber plate is imprinted into a rubber product which contains a plurality of continually connected wind shield wipers with a plurality of folding guide grooves. In the cutting step, the rubber product is divided into a plurality of independent wind shield wipers, wherein each of the independent wind shield wipers has a pair of blades extending in opposite directions to each other. In the folding step, each of the independent wind shield wipers is folded along the folding guide groove thereby to make the pair of blades parallel to each other. Preferable, further to impose the bonding step to fix the independent wind shield wipers into a permanent configuration, so as to be a more durable unitary double-blade wind shield wiper.

    摘要: A process for forming linear, thermoplastic weatherseals into a bend position is provided which avoids buckling of the thinner surfaces of the weatherseal material. The process involves the use of a support insert which supports the thinner surfaces during the bending operation, and thus assists in preventing the deformation of the thinner weatherseal surfaces. The support is preferable constructed of a material which is unaffected by temperatures higher than the heat-deformation temperature used to set the weatherseal material into a bent configuration, and thus, the support insert retains its linear shape when removed from the bending press, and therefore, can be reused. An improved process for manufacturing bent thermoplastic weatherseal material results.

    摘要: A method is shown for forming a wiper blade in which a continuous length of elastomer is extruded through a die having a die opening shaped to produce a pair of wiper blades joined in edge-to-edge relation. The elastomer is scored in the mid-section thereof to produce a score line and then cured. The scored and cured elastomer is then separated into two separate lengths of wiper blade by dividing the length of continuous elastomer along the score line.

    摘要: A formulation for the preparation of a wiping blade element for a vehicle windscreen wiper blade is disclosed. The formulation has an elastomer material based on chloroprene rubber in which plasticizing additives are incorporated, where the plasticizing additives include a combination of at least a first additive, the pour point of which is less than −50° C., and at least a second additive, the pour point of which is greater than −50° C. The first additive is octyl sebacate in a proportion of 4 phr and the second is a naphthalic oil plasticizer or a C18-C30 tricarboxylic ester in a proportion of 10 phr.

    摘要: A reinforced extrusion for attachment to a motor vehicle component edge or flange. The reinforced extrusion includes a reinforcement core having at least one flexible wire and at least one threaded cord. A thermoplastic overmold is formed on at least one side of the reinforcement core and at least partly fills any gaps formed in the reinforcement core. An extruded layer is selectively formed around the thermoplastic overmold and reinforcement core and has a flange extending flange portion extending from a channel portion for engaging a motor vehicle component. The thermoplastic overmold helps prevent the reinforcement core from showing through to any visible show surface of the reinforced extrusion.

    摘要: An improved method of molding an extended product having a longitudinal hollow through the center, wherein the use of numerous lateral chaplets to stabilize the product core during the molding process is significantly reduced or eliminated. Tangential structures positioned on a core suspended throughout the length of the cavity will eliminate or minimize the need for chaplets or other core stabilizing means. The core is placed in the open cavity of a mold used to manufacture rubber products and is suspended throughout the length of the cavity. The tangential structures on the core will maintain the suspended position of the core as rubber flows around it filling the cavity. After the cavity is filled and vulcanization of the rubber is complete, the mold is opened and the core is removed from the cavity with the molded product intact. Upon removal from the mold, the core is extracted from the product. The product is ready for post-molding operations and the core is returned to the mold and readied for the next molding cycle.
