摘要: A portable heat sealer for sealing heavy grade thermoplastic films comprises a plurality of adjacent, segmented heating elements positioned along the underside of a heated sealing bar. The segmented heating elements are under the control of a microprocessor for controlling the energy applied to the heated sealing bar to avoid the formation of hot spots and to obtain a strong seal. Each heating element is maintained in firm contact with the heated sealing bar by means of a tension spring. A thermoplastic film bag is placed on the heated sealing bar and a movable sealer jaw is lowered on top of the bag. A jaw switch is activated by the sealer jaw which turns-on power to the heat sealer. A latch 32 attaches to a clip on the end of the sealer jaws and secures the sealer jaw in place. Pilot lights are provided to indicate to an operator the cycles of “ready”, “heat” and “cool”.

摘要: A mixture of magnesium-iron alloy and salt is confined within a nonwoven cellulose covering and forms an elongated cartridge which is wrapped with multiple layers of absorbent paper. The cartridge and paper are enclosed within a pouch of perforated plastic film to form a heating element. One or more heating elements are attached by adhesive tape to the inside of a generally triangular polyethylene film envelope, and peripheral portions of the envelope are heat sealed to form an enclosed chamber. An overlying mating sheet of polyethylene coated nylon film and a pad of thermoplastic foam material are heat sealed to peripheral portions of the envelope, and parallel strips of double-sided adhesive tape, with removal protective strips, are attached to the outer surface of the envelope to form a flexible heater device. The device is used by being wrapped around either a vertical or horizontal pipe joint containing a heat activated epoxy. An upper sealed corner portion of the envelope is cut and removed to form an opening for the chamber, and water is poured through the opening into the chamber to initiate an exothermic reaction with each heating element for heating the pipe joint and epoxy to accelerate curing of the epoxy.

摘要: Heat seal apparatus is disclosed which comprises a heater unit having a heater therein and a roller insertable in and removable from the heater unit. The roller, when in the heater unit, is in heat transfer relation with the heater so as to be heated to a predetermined temperature level. When the roller is removed for application on a package for heat sealing purposes, the heat stored in the roller performs the heat sealing function thus obviating the need for a heater located within the roller and for a power cord connected to the roller. The roller is a sealed, hollow tube filled with a suitable heat storage medium, such as paraffin or another low vapor pressure, high heat capacity compound, so as to ensure sufficient heat capacity in the roller for heat sealing purposes, to ensure uniform roller temperatures, and to require only a localized contact with the heater for substantially uniformly heating the roller.
