    Abstract: An extraction apparatus (20) for a cutting machine (10). The extraction apparatus (20) comprises first and second portions (21, 22) rotatable one relative to the other for angular movement between two opposed positions. A slidable coupling (27) defines a fluid flow path (29) for fluid communication between the first and second portions (21, 22) during said angular movement between the two opposed positions, whereby fluid can flow from the interior (45) of the first portion (21) into the second portion (22). The slidable coupling (27) comprises first and second coupling sections (61, 62) slidable one with respect to the other. The second coupling section (62) is hollow to define an open interior (63). The first coupling section (61) defines a duct (65) opening onto the interior (63) of the second coupling section (62), whereby the duct (65) and the interior (63) of the second coupling section (62) cooperate to define the fluid flow path (29).

    Abstract: A suspending member, such as a tether strap or the like, may by connected to improve convenience for an operator. The function of the suspending member shall be reliably performed by clearly notifying the user when the connecting part for connecting the suspending member is damaged.     Abstract: A power tool that drives rotary cutting element has a retractable guard for the cutting element, and a guard control apparatus allows a user to maintain the guard in a retracted position during operation of the power tool. The guard control apparatus includes an auxiliary handle fastened to the housing of the power tool, and latching elements linked to a spring-biased lever mounted in the auxiliary handle for selectively and temporarily retaining the retractable portion of the guard in a retracted position to enable plunge and other complex cutting operations. Maintaining the retractable portion of the guard in the retracted position during operation of the power tool thereby occupies both hands of the user. This not only helps the user stabilize and accurately control the power tool, but also keeps both of the user's hands safely away from the exposed cutting element in the event of a sudden kickback.
