The ridges are then removed and the blocks may be used to form an architectural wall. The process is also applicable to pavers, steps and coping stones.

The grinding machine comprises a driving motor (3) surrounded by a body (3), and a drive shaft (4) cooperating with the driving motor. The drive shaft (4) is arranged in two pieces and comprises a main shaft (11) and an eccentric shaft (10) arranged rigidly thereto. The eccentric shaft comprises a centre line (12) that assumes an angle (α) against a corresponding centre line (13) of the main shaft, and thus the grinding head (5) will assume an eccentric placement in relation to the main shaft (11). Thus, the grinding head is arranged to oscillate in a substantially spherical plane provided by the rotation of the main shaft and the eccentricity and inclination of the eccentric shaft in relation to the main shaft.

    摘要: A method of making a component (2) of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis, which has a bearing surface whose shape corresponds approximately to a part of a sphere and is symmetrical about its polar axis, involves use of a cutting tool (6) which has a circular cutting edge (12) and which can be rotated about an axis (8) which is perpendicular to the plane containing the said cutting edge (12). The method involves (a) rotating the component about its polar axis (4) and rotating the cutting tool (6) about its axis (8), with the cutting edge (12) of the cutting tool (6) in contact with the surface of the component (2); (b) moving the cutting tool (i) in a direction parallel to the polar axis (4) of the component (2) while leaving the angle between the axis of the cutting tool (6) and the polar axis of the component (2) unchanged, and (ii) along its axis (8); and (c) repeating step (a). The movements (i) and (ii) of the cutting tool (6) cause the radius of curvature of the bearing surface to change continuously and monotonically as the angle between the radius and the polar axis of the component changes, so that the shape of the bearing surface deviates from that of a true sphere in such a way that discontinuities in the shape of the bearing surface as a result of individual movements are minimised.

The female block has formed therein a domed mold cavity which includes a hemispherical wall that is just half a sphere and an annular wall extending from an end of the hemispherical wall. The male block has a domed protrusion mating with the domed mold cavity of the female block. The domed protrusion consists of two parts: a hemispherical portion and a cylindrical portion. The hemispherical portion is mechanically joined to the cylindrical portion. This structure allows the surface of the domed protrusion of the male block to be formed smoothly without any irregularities on an interface between the hemispherical portion and the cylindrical portion.

    摘要: A method for creation of a surface from a rough blank for spectacles is which is suitable for both brittle-hard materials and for plastics uses makes use of a disk-shaped, rotation-symmetrical tool of relatively large diameter, by means of which the material to be taken off the rough blank is removed with high grinding or milling efficiency in at least two work steps--a plunge-cut step and a shaping step with material removed along a spiral path. The outcome of the last work step is a machining path traveling in a spiral from the outside to the inside with low residual apex height and relatively large apex spacing. The resulting surface needs only slight fine-grinding and polishing aftertreatment. As an option, both a rim machining step adapted to the form of the eyeglass frame and a work step faceting the rim of the eyeglasses can be integrated into the method. Furthermore, tools are proposed for carrying out the grinding and milling process.
