    摘要: An apparatus for positioning a workpiece carrier with respect to a workstation can include a workpiece carrier movable relative to the workstation and having an encoder strip, at least one encoder reader located at the workstation for generating a signal in response to interaction with at least one encoder strip, and a drive engaging the workpiece carrier for moving the carrier relative to the workstation, the drive responsive to the signal from the encoder reader. The encoder reader can be selected from a group consisting of an optical encoder reader, a magnetic encoder reader, and any other absolute positioning encoder reader. A closed loop feedback control system can be provided for receiving the signal from the encoder reader, and for generating an output signal in response to the signal from the encoder reader in accordance with a program stored in memory. The encoder reader can be used for generating a signal corresponding to at least one of a position identification signal, a workpiece carrier identification signal, and a workpiece configuration identification signal.

    摘要: An automated guided vehicle includes a transporting portion having an upper surface and a driving device, the transporting portion being movable by the driving device; a transferring device provided on the upper surface of the transporting portion, the transferring device being capable of transferring a workpiece to or from an apparatus; and a mounting portion formed on the upper surface of the transporting portion, the mounting portion having at least two opening portions which allow an operation for transferring the workpiece. In the automated guided vehicle, photosensors are respectively arranged on the opening portions to detect an object which intrudes into a predetermined area or projects from the predetermined area, and a control device monitors a state of the photosensors and controls the transferring device or the driving device in accordance with the state of the photosensors.

    摘要: A device for aligning a pallet or similar article both horizontally and vertically to facilitate a transfer to a support located at a predetermined horizontal position and height comprises first and second banks of engagement rollers which have axes disposed substantially horizontally and which are movable toward and away respective opposite sides of the pallet to engage the pallet underside from each side. In addition, the apparatus includes a vertical alignment member in the form of first and second banks of rollers which extend obliquely and are movable in an oblique plane toward and away from the respective sides of the pallet to engage it at a selected vertical height. The surfaces of the horizontal aligning rollers and vertical aligning rollers engage and support the pallet at a selected intersecting vertical and horizontal plates along its side. The vertical aligning rollers which extend obliquely are advantageously offset from the rollers which have axes which extend horizontally. The aligning rollers are mounted on a cross beam supported on two sets of posts which itself may be movable backwardly and forwardly in a horizontal direction at the top of the posts. The horizontal rollers are journalled for axial displacement in the cross beams and the obliquely extending rollers are mounted for axial shiftable movement on brackets which are also advantageously mounted so that they may be pivoted on the cross beams.

    摘要: A shuttle rail assembly, capable of carrying a pair of pallets to which workpieces are fixtured, is mounted on a wheeled vehcile movable along a pair of tracks extending adjacent machine tools and set-up stations. The vehicle is positively driven by a DC motor and pinion, mounted on a adjustable eccentric, which meshes with a toothed rack secured to one of the pair of tracks. A vertical standard extending upward from the vehicle is slidable along power and control electrical buses contained within an enclosed overhead trolley. The shuttle rail assembly includes a pair of rails, extendable to either side of the vehicle by a hydraulic rail motor, mounted on a platform rotatable by a hydraulic index motor to 180.degree. positions when pallets are to be interchanged, and having a 90.degree. latched position during vehicle travel. The vehicle chassis includes a pair of tubular frames having sealed sections defining a fluid reservoir for containing hydraulic fluid pumped to a hydraulic circuit for the hydraulic motors and controls. The machine tools and set-up stations each include cams which mechanically unlatch the rails for extension, and hydraulic cylinders for lifting the pallets off the rails when extended into the rail guides.
