摘要: A rotary cutting tool for reaming operations, including a generally cylindrically shaped tool shank with a longitudinal axis having a plurality of radially protruding and generally axially extending clamping wings, and a cylindrically shaped cutting head having a central bore and a plurality of axially extending cutting edges with an outer cutting diameter. The central bore has a plurality of circumferentially and alternately spaced bore sectors and bore recesses, where each bore sector has an outwardly inclined female clamping surface in clamping contact with an outwardly inclined male clamping surface of each clamping wing. A cylindrical shaped locking sleeve and a cylindrical shaped clamping nut assembled to the tool shank provide a means to adjust the clamping contact forces and the cutting diameter of the cutting head, and also enable removal and replacement of the cutting head without removal of the locking sleeve and clamping nut.

摘要: The present invention discloses a reamer (20) and a method for reaming, for enlarging a pre-existing hole in a workpiece by rotational and axial cutting. The reamer (20) includes a body (24) extending from a shank (22). The body (24) has a first flute (30) providing a first flute cutting edge (32) at a distal end (34) of the body (24) for imparting a first cutting operation to the workpiece. The body (24) has a helical flute (42) providing a helical flute cutting edge (46) in the body distal end (34), radially spaced apart from the first flute cutting edge (32) for imparting a helical cutting operation to the workpiece. The first flute and helical flute cutting edges (32, 46) concurrently and collectively perform the first and helical cutting operations to a sculpture surface of the workpiece, thereby improving tolerances of the cutting operations, varying loads imparted to the workpiece and the reamer (20), and reducing heat generated therebetween.

摘要: In order to achieve as highly accurate an alignment of the frictional tool as possible and therefore as high a drilled hole quality as possible during the precision machining of a drilled hole, the cutting edges of the frictional tool are divided into two cutting groups, the cutting edges of which are spaced apart with respect to one another in each case by an axial spacing from one another. Here, the axial spacing is selected in such a way that, at a predefined first, slower feed speed, merely the cutting edges of the first cutting edge group are in engagement with the workpiece and, at a higher, predefined second feed speed, all cutting edges are in engagement with the workpiece.
