摘要:
A breathing assistance apparatus includes an inner volumetric member pressurizable from a first pressure to a second pressure and an outer volumetric member surrounding at least a portion of the inner expandable volumetric member. The inner volumetric member pressurizes the outer volumetric member as the inner volumetric member is pressurized from the first pressure to the second pressure. In another embodiment, a breathing assistance apparatus includes exhalation and inhalation chambers with respective biasing members providing for the exhalation chamber to apply a pressure to the inhalation chamber and thereby provide assisted inhalation. Methods for assisting breathing are also provided.

Double acting respirator pump apparatus including a pump member reciprocable with respect to two pump chambers to deliver air to a patient via a respirator exhalation system, which also facilitates exhalation of the patient. The exhalation system has a pump unit that is operatively connected to an exhalation valve member and configured for selectively generating an air pressure sufficient for pressurizing one side of the valve member for closing the same when said exhalation system is operating in inhalation mode, and may be operated for opening to allow the patient to exhale therethrough.

A control system for a high frequency oscillating ventilator (HFOV) includes an oscillator controller and a mean airway pressure (MAP) controller. The HFOV includes a reciprocating piston which is adapted to generate positive and negative pressure waves for delivery to a patient airway. The oscillator controller comprises a pair of closed loop control circuits including an oscillator pressure loop and a centering loop which are collectively adapted to regulate frequency and amplitude of piston reciprocations and centering of the piston. The MAP controller comprises a closed loop control circuit that is adapted for regulating MAP at the patient utilizing feedback in the form of patient circuit pressure. Likewise, the oscillator controller utilizes patient circuit pressure as well as piston displacement feedback in order to regulate movement of the piston.

A piston and cylinder unit provides a supply actuable by means of an actuation device for delivering respiratory air in a respiratory cycle of a respirator. Its piston is sealed with its cylinder by means of a pair of rolling membranes arranged symmetrically with regard to one another. The membranes separate the cylinder contents into an antechamber and a working chamber. The wear of the rolling membranes during the working strokes and especially during the starting is decreased by a clean rolling of the folds. Also a leakage control takes place even during operation and an immediate detection of leaks due to bending stress, aging or other influences is guaranteed. For this purpose an inner chamber which is enclosed by the two rolling membranes is under a pressure different from the pressure in the antechamber and the working chamber so that the highest pressure is on a concave inside of the folds.

A portable apparatus for ventilation support to persons with respiratory distress is provided with a compressed air pump. The pump may be connected to the mouth or the nose via a tube for generation of pressure pulses with an individually adaptable air volume. The pump comprises a rigid container having two symmetrical halves and with a flexible membrane which is located as a laterally reciprocating diaphragm between the two container halves. These are provided with check valves permitting ambient air to be fed into the pump and from the pump into the tube while the membrane wall is moved, for generation of a pressure pulse. The pump is provided with a flexible pull device for reciprocating operation of the membrane in the container. The pull device extends via pulley wheels to a driving device located substantially in the same plane as the container and beside it.
