One of the drivers (11) comprises a socket (26) defining an entrance (29) for detachably receiving an implement handle within the socket. The socket includes an elongate elastic constrictor (34, 41) positioned to surround the implement handle when the latter is inserted into the socket for holding the dental implement. A motor-powered device (16) connected to the socket is arranged for power-driving the dental implement to facilitate oral hygiene.

    摘要： A powered toothbrush apparatus with capacitive touch control, which includes a head portion having an oscillating tuft block driven by a motor, a handle portion, and an elastically deformable capacitive touch control panel mounted in the handle portion. In one embodiment, the control panel includes movable sensor targets each paired with a corresponding capacitance sensor electrically connected to a programmable microprocessor. Applying finger pressure on the control panel adjacent a sensor target operates to change the capacitance of the respective sensor target-sensor pair. The microprocessor detects the change in capacitance, which may be used to control the motor speed for changing the oscillation rate of the tuft block. In one embodiment, a linear array of sensor targets-sensors is provided which is activated by a sliding finger or thumb motion across the array. A related operating method is disclosed.

    摘要： An electric toothbrush with a replaceable brush head section is disclosed. The electric toothbrush includes a handle including a motor therein and a brush head section. The toothbrush has a longitudinal axis extending through the handle to the far end of the brush head. The brush head section includes a translation head and an oscillation head, each of which has a bristle support member, one of which will rotate and oscillate and the other of which will not rotate or oscillate, but will reciprocate along, or substantially parallel to, the longitudinal, axis. The translation head is adapted so that its motion will induce a different motion in the bristle head of the oscillation head. The invention results in reduced assembly costs.
