摘要: The invention relates to an eating utensil which combines the capabilities of a fork, characterized by function for spearing the food and of a knife characterized by function for cutting the food and can be used by the handicapped and people with decreased functional ability of one of their upper limbs. The eating utensil consists of a handle (1) and a head (5) with formed static spearing tines (9) and mounted rotating cutting tines (8′) and (8″). The handle (1) has a cavity in which a semi-automatic reciprocal spring mechanism (2) is inbuilt. In outer circumferential surface of the handle (1) are formed slots (1′) and sliders with ergonomic shape are placed in them for right (3′) or for left (3″) handed use. When the utensil is positioned laterally for cutting up the food the place of the slider (3′), (3″) coincides with the abutment contact surface of the index finger of the user over the handle (1). The slider (3), (3″) is connected to the contact surface of the mechanism (2) and projects the pressure force from the user's index finger as translational motion into the mechanism (2). The rotating part of the mechanism (2) inside the handle (1) is connected to a transmission (4), inbuilt into the handle (1) and head (5) of the utensil. The transmission (4) consists of a monolith flexible shaft, bent in the middle making a turn and twisted at 90 degree relative to the bending plane, thus forming a loop (4′) inside handle's neck. Generated rotational movement at 180 degree from the mechanism (2) is projected over contact surface of the loop (4′) and transmitted to the two active ends of the transmission (4), placed in holes (6′) and (6″) of the head (5). The active ends of the transmission (4) are connected with bearing shafts (7′) and (7″) of rotating cutting tines (8′) and (8″) mounted to the frontal side of the head (1) in holes (6′) and (6″). The inner longitudinal sides of the rotating cutting tines (8′) and (8″) are shaped as blades for cutting and can rotate bi-directionally by 180 degree.

摘要: The invention provides an eating assist device which can be used by persons who have lost all or substantially all use of their hands for gripping or grasping items. Once a piece of food has been placed in the device, the person needing such assistance can eat substantially all the food without further assistance. The device generally comprises a support stand, a food holder mounted on the support stand, and a food advancing mechanism which the eater can activate, manipulate without gripping or grasping anything, for advancing the food frontwardly in the food holder. The advancing mechanism is illustrated as a reel which can be activated to advance a sheet material which is threaded into the food holder in such a way as to advance the food in the food holder as a cord or strap is accumulated onto the reel.

摘要: The present invention relates to a feeding assistant robot, which assists in feeding patients or the elderly and infirm who have difficulty in moving their arms and thus have difficulty in feeding themselves. The feeding assistant robot includes: a picking arm including a gripper for picking up food placed on a tray; a feeding arm, including a spoon on which the food picked up by the picking arm is placed, for moving the spoon to the mouth of a user; an input device enabling the user to direct the movements of the picking arm and of the feeding arm; and a control unit electrically connected to the picking arm, the feeding arm, and the manipulation part to control the movements of the picking arm and the feeding arm according to the commands from the input device.

摘要: A self-feeding device for a user and method operating is provided. The self-feeding device includes a base assembly having a housing with an upper wall, a lower wall and a sidewall extending therebetween the upper wall and the lower wall. A plate is disposed on the upper housing wall of the base assembly, and the plate includes a food compartment having a food item located therein. A feed arm assembly located on the base assembly includes an arm moveable with a predetermined degree of freedom, and a feeding utensil is coupled to the feed arm. A controller actuates the feed arm assembly to obtain the food/drink item from the food compartment via the feed utensil, and to transfer the food item to the user. The methodology includes software to control operation of the self-feeding device within a STORAGE mode, a SELECT mode, and a RETRIEVE food and drink mode.

摘要: A feeder device for feeding a user may include a supporting arm, a food tube to cooperate with the support arm and to hold food for the user, a rotating bearing to rotate the supply arm and a slider device to extrude the food out of the food tube so that the user can be fed without holding the food. The food tube may be flexible, and the feeder device may include a motor to rotate the rotating bearing. The motor may move the slider device along the supporting arm, and the motor may move between a first position and a second position. The motor may pivot between the first position and the second position, and the feeder device may include a control arm to control the rotation of the rotating bearing. The control arm may include a pin to position the rotating bearing, and the motor may be deactivated when the pin engages the rotating bearing. The slider device may include a movable nut member, and the motor may rotate a threaded shaft to move the slider device. The threaded shaft may cooperate with the movable nut member to move the slider device, and the movable nut device may be operable between a first position and a second position.

摘要: A gripping assistive device which can be used by an individual to utilize various utensils. The device generally includes a handle with a bore passing through the interior. An appendage attaches to the handle and extends outwardly from the handle transversely from the bore. A fastening device such as a screw clamp is employed on the appendage so that the various utensils can be attached to the appendage. A second screw clamp may optionally be employed on one end of the handle so that utensils can be attached directly to the handle. An optional strap for fastening the device to the individual's hand and an optional extension can be provided for individuals with limited arm range mobility.

The respective shell parts (2, 3) and handle shafts (4, 5), which are rigidly connected to one another, are connected to one another by a scissor hinge (7) and can be moved against one another in a scissor-like manner.
