Abstract:
A delivery member for use in an image forming apparatus. The delivery member has a support member and a first layer disposed on the support member. The first layer includes a cross-linked elastomeric matrix, a stabilizing polymer comprising a polysiloxane backbone, and a functional material. Coating mixtures for preparing such delivery members having a first layer. Image forming apparatuses containing such delivery members.
Abstract:
Methods for lubricating an imaging member include applying lubricant-containing capsules to the surface of the imaging member via a non-contact applicator. The capsules are applied upstream of a cleaning blade after image transfer to another substrate, such that the cleaning blade ruptures the capsules, thereby releasing the lubricant contained therein.
Abstract:
A process and device for making a latex emulsion suitable for use in a toner composition which uses Steam Injection Emulsification (SIE) are disclosed, including a steam injection nozzle system, where the nozzle has one or more holes for releasing steam into an emulsion, which induces turbulence in the emulsion to facilitate emulsification, solvent distillation or both to produce latex emulsions for making toner.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus includes an imaging member having a surface, a development component that is not in physical contact with the imaging member, and a power source for generating an electric field between the imaging member surface and the development component. An ink is electrohydrodynamically transferred from the development component to the imaging member surface when the electric field is generated.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an electrophotographic photoconductive member and a delivery unit. The delivery unit is disposed in contact with a surface of the photoconductive member to apply a layer of functional materials to the surface of the photoconductive member, wherein a cylindrical axis of the delivery unit is angled with respect to a cylindrical axis of the photoconductive member to increase uniformity of the functional materials layer. An image forming apparatus an electrophotographic photoconductive member, a charging unit and a delivery unit disposed in contact with the surface of the charging unit, wherein the delivery unit applies a layer of functional materials to the surface of the photoconductive member. and a cylindrical axis of the delivery unit is angled with respect to a cylindrical axis of the charging unit to increase the uniformity of the functional materials layer.
Abstract:
A mixing process and system for mixing fluid such as a latex can include a first fluid and a second fluid that are combined to form, for example, a latex precursor. A plurality of magnetic particles are dispensed within the precursor. The precursor is dispensed within a mixing zone that may include a mixing tube. Two or more opposing electromagnets are activated out of phase (i.e., out of sync) to affect a travel path of the magnetic particles to form a turbulence within the precursor to provide an effective mixing of the precursor to form a material such as latex. The magnetic particles may be removed from the material, for example by filtering, or may remain within the material during use.
Abstract:
A mixing process and system can include a plurality of magnetic particles within a fluid such as a liquid or solid to be mixed. The fluid to be mixed is dispensed within a mixing zone that may include a mixing tube. Two or more opposing electromagnets are independently activated out of sync to affect a travel path of the magnetic particles to form a turbulence within the fluid to provide an effective mixing of the fluid. The magnetic particles may be removed from the fluid, for example by filtering, or may remain within the fluid.
Abstract:
There is described an image forming apparatus that includes an imaging member having a charge retentive-surface for developing an electrostatic latent image thereon. The imaging member includes a substrate and photoconductive member disposed on the substrate. The image forming apparatus includes a charging unit for applying an electrostatic charge on the imaging member to a predetermined electric potential wherein the charging unit is spaced from the photoconductive member a distance of from about 3 μm to about 300 μm. The image forming apparatus includes a delivery member in contact with the surface of the photoconductive member. The delivery member includes an elastomeric matrix impregnated with a liquid lubricant wherein the delivery member applies a layer of liquid lubricant to the surface of the photoconductor wherein in the layer has a thickness of from about 1 nm to about 15 nm during steady state operation.
Abstract:
The present embodiments relate to methods of making a toner composition. More specifically, the present embodiments relate to methods of including a functional material into a toner composition.
Abstract:
Described herein is a photoreceptor having a substrate, a charge generating layer, a charge transport layer comprising N,N,N′N′-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1′-biphenyl)-4,4′-diamine having a purity of from about 95 percent to about 100 percent, and a protective overcoat layer. The N,N,N′N′-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1′-biphenyl)-4,4′-diamine has been treated by a purification process two or more times.
