    Abstract: The invention relates to new 2,4-diaminophenyl tetrahydrofurfuryl ethers of the general formula VIII and to their salts with inorganic or organic acids ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, independently of one another, each represent a hydrogen atom, a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl group, hydroxy(C.sub.2 -C.sub.4)alkyl group, dihydroxy(C.sub.3 -C.sub.4)alkyl group, halogeno(C.sub.2 -C.sub.4)alkyl group, amino(C.sub.2 -C.sub.4)alkyl group or an amino(C.sub.2 -C.sub.4)alkyl group which is substituted once or twice by methyl, ethyl or hydroxyethyl radicals on the nitrogen, the carbon chain having a straight or branched arrangement, and it being a proviso that at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represents a hydrogen atom, to processes for their preparation, and to aqueous tinting compositions for keratin fibres such as fur and human hair, containing at least one coupler and at least one developing component together with customary additives and auxiliaries, the coupler corresponding to the general formula VIII or to the acid salts of these compounds.

    Abstract: New substituted 2,6-diaminotoluenes of the general formula I ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrogen atom and R.sup.1 is a radical of the formula Ia--CH.sub.2 --CH(A)--B (Ia)or R and R.sup.1 are independent from each other and are represented by the formula Ia and if A in formula Ia represents a hydrogen atom, B is a hydroxyl group or HO--CH.sub.2 -- group; if A denotes a methyl group, B is a hydroxyl group; with the proviso that formula I is not N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2,6-toluylenediamine; processes for their preparation and coloring compositions for keratin fibers which contain them. The dyeings produced with the coloring compositions are stable, bright and intense in color. They have improved properties with respect to attack by perspiration, acid rain, detergents, sunlight, UV radiation, seawater and the like.

    Abstract: The invention relates to new 3-nitro-4-aminophenols of the formula (I) ##STR1## in which R denotes hydrogen or halogen, preferably chlorine or bromine, and R' denotes hydrogen or alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, dihydroxyalkyl or halogenohydroxyalkyl which has 1 to 6 carbon atoms and is straight-chain or branched, with the proviso that, if R is hydrogen, R' does not denote hydrogen, methyl or .beta.-hydroxyethyl.Processes for their preparation: (a) by reacting corresponding 3-nitro-4-aminophenols with certain halogenoalkyl chloroformates and subsequent basic treatment of the process products, or (b) by reacting corresponding 4-halogeno-3-nitrophenols with certain amines, and the intermediate products obtained and coloring agents for keratinic fibres, preferably for human hair, which contain at least one compound of the formula (I).
