The invention provides vulcanizable rubber compound having improved tensile mechanical and dynamic viscoelastic properties. The compounds are formed by mixing an elastomer, containing unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds in its molecular structure, with a reinforcing inorganic filler silica in the presence of an alkyl alkoxysilane and a non-sulfur coupling agent that binds to the rubber backbone with an “ene” linkage or a 1,3 dipolar addition linkage. In particular, the coupling agent and the alkyl alkoxysilane are present in the compound in a weight ratio of about 0.0001:1 to about 1:1.

The present disclosure is directed to tire rubber compositions containing at least one rubbery polymer (with 10 to 100 weight percent of monomer units derived from conjugated diene monomer having between 4 and 8 carbon atoms and 0 to 90 weight percent of monomer units derived from vinyl aromatic monomer); 0.5 to 100 phr of silica filler; 0.05 to 20 phr of a bi-functional silica coupling agent; and 1 to 30 phr of a non-elastomer reactive filler reinforcing agent capable of interacting with at least two silica particles. The bi-functional silica coupling agent and the filler reinforcing agent are utilized in a weight ratio of from 1:100 to 1:0.2. Also disclosed are methods for preparing the tire rubber compositions.

In certain embodiments, the at least one halogenated hydrocarbon wax is a chlorinated hydrocarbon or a fluorinated hydrocarbon wax.

The present disclosure provides reinforcing filler-containing rubber compositions suitable for use in tires, and particularly in tire treads. These rubber compositions comprise a metal carboxylate. The metal carboxylate provides improved processability to the rubber compositions in the form of a reduced Mooney viscosity. In certain exemplary embodiments, these rubber compositions containing the metal carboxylate also have an enhanced elastic modulus (also referred to as the G′). Further, in certain of the enhanced elastic modulus embodiments, the rubber compositions containing the metal carboxylate also have decreased hysteresis loss.

In one embodiment, the present invention relates to crosslinking agents that can be used in the photopolymerization of the pre-polymers and polymers disclosed herein. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to processes for producing pre-polymer, polymer and crosslinking compositions useful in photopolymerization reaction schemes. In one instance, the pre-polymers and polymers of the present invention can be crosslinked via a suitable crosslinking agent to produce networks (e.g., amphiphilic networks and/or co-networks).
